Not many people know this, but in the late '60s the Rat Pack started filming a bio-pic of the Beatles. Sinatra starred as John Lennon. Dino was Paul (or Paulie, the "cute" one). Sammy Davis Jr was a slap-happy Ringo. And Peter Lawford was the "serious" George.
According to footage unearthed in a Palm Springs vault, the film opened with Sinatra/Lennon cracking wise with his bandmate/numbskulls for writing this sissy hand-holding stuff when they need to be getting more "adult" with their material.
"If our Hebrew brother [Bob Dylan] can do it, why can't we?" Lennon demands.
There is also a clip of the guys in Sgt Pepper uniforms doing their Vegas routine.
Apparently the film was shelved after the Beatles broke up. Sinatra figured their wouldn't be any interest in them anymore.
