Ok, I have no idea what the deal is with this or if it's true, but my mom said she recently heard on the radio that the cigarette in Paul's hand on Abbey Road is going to be removed to please anti-smoking campaigners. I looked online and didn't find anything about it and have never heard anything about it yet elsewhere. So someone who's smart and knows what's going on (unlike me, lol), can you fill me in? Thanks.

The ciggie was removed in some posters, maybe around 2003? But I've never heard anything about altering the cover. Hope not.

Ok, thanks guys, lol. ;D
I guess they're not changing the cover, thank God.

I've always liked the ciggie on the Abbey Road cover. I don't smoke, period, but airbrushing it out would be stupid. It'd be like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa...oh wait, didn't Duchamp already do that? :P

People always have to go to the extreme either ways. It's like some people want to shelter us completely, and others don't give a d*mn what we see. Why would you airbrush a cigarette out of an infamous pop culture image when we all know smoking will hurt you and it's not like we haven't seen it before?? Smoking isn't illegal, and even if it was I think it'd be ridiculous to brush it out of such an iconic thing. Is our society so corrupt that they'd do that?? Brush a cigarette out of the Abbey Road cover and don't let me bring cough drops to school, yeah, we're messed up.
