Cheesy '90s dance pop
« on: September 26, 2005, 10:42:55 PM »

I'm trying to make a mix of the best (if you can call them that) cheesy dance songs from the '90s. What are some of your favorites? (excluding Aqua, I already have enough of them).

I can in all honesty say that I totally despise every single dance pop song ever made.

What about songs like Better Off Alone and Blue (Da Ba Dee) which are probably qualifiable as techno, yet were huge radio hits?

OK, I'll take that back.

There are two that I like.

Two. But that's it, OK?

Roger Sanchez "Another Chance"

and

White Town "Your Woman"

Okay, bad example. But what about Music by Madonna? That's pretty techno. For Madonna I mean.

And Technologic by Daft Punk... or was that a hit? I don't know, I don't listen to contemporary radio.

I wouldn't call "Music" techno... I wouldn't call techno music either, but that's a different thing... :)

What we call techno is mostly the stuff that's dominated by heavy electronic bass drum, usually no vocals (apart from some sampled stuff maybe), no verse-chorus-verse type of stuff.
