Here's the deal, my mother watched it everyday when I was younger (followed by Another World) and I just seemed to watch it with her. I had a break at 1:00 in college and started watching it again (same people and nothing changed). Recently, I checked it out again and the same damn people are still in it and they look the same. How is that possible?

I got addicted to General Hospital the same way; my mother had it on EVERY day. I used to have such a crush on Tristan Rogers, LOL -- then I found out he smacked his wife around, and that ended that.

I used to LOVE Days of our Lives in college; I had a break at 1:00, too, and lots of people in our dorm would grab a quick lunch at the student union and race back to the dorm lounge to watch it.

I see ads on SoapNet for these shows, and you're right: The actors look almost exactly the same! It's eerie. I saw an ad a few days ago for GH and the character Heather and I swear she looks the same as she did 30 years ago.

Back to work....when I have more time I'll properly respond to the list.  :)

Oh yeah. That's a great show. Another one I liked was WKRP in Cincinnati. Ever see that one Kevin?

Okay, but bear in mind that I was born when Harry Truman was President  ???

Comedy - Everybody Loves Raymond (several Beatle references in some episodes)
Drama - The Fugitive (before Harrison Ford)
Cop/Crime Drama - Baretta (so very ironic; Robert Blake playing a cop)
Western - Gunsmoke (The writing was years ahead of its time)
Music Show - Midnight Special (the last show of its genre)
Sillyness show - You Bet Your Life (a game show, but not really. Groucho Marx was a Jewish John Lennon)
Soap - Days Of Our Lives (but only in the 70's when it was quirky)

My wife and I used to wait for the DVD series to come out each season and we would rent the whole thing from Blockbuster and have a weekend 24 marathon. Add our favorite food and no adds. Fun time.

yeah great music Todd. dont know why I just liked it, and its offshoot Fish

It was a good show. I loved Abe Vigoda and Jack Soo. I didnt mean anything negative about the theme song being the best part, its just that I love that funky tune.

Back in the 70s, whole lecture halls would empty out to watch...

I was a construction worker in the 70s and got laid off every winter.  My fellow workers (Rhodes scholars and Mensa members all ) would gather at my apartment, drink beer and watch The Gong Show.

Little did we know that Chuck Barris was a ruthless and lethal secret agent.   ;)

Yes, we were all quite fortunate for this.

Which reminds me of another favorite show.  Before Patrick McGoohan was The Prisoner, he was John Drake in Secret Agent (Danger Man outside of the US).  I thought he was cool.  He never carried a gun...

Comedy: The Simpsons
Drama: Twin Peaks
Cop/Crime Drama: Does Pushing Daisies count? It was a whodunit dramedy type show. If not, L&O.
Western: Little House on the Prairie was the only one I ever watched.
Music Show: I used to watch Idol religiously. Now, not so much. It really was entertaining in the first 4 seasons though.
Sillyness show: Monty Python's Flying Circus
Soap: Microsoap, which was a British soap opera pastiche for kids. Like "Soap", but family-friendly.
