What would Paul think about being part of a contest where the winner gets to see animals brutalized? Ted Nugent must have been the DJ.

Dead people feel no pain.  Taking a living being that can feel pain and using them for 'sport' is a whole different story. The calves end up with their hind quarters ripped to shreds, the bulls have ropes tied around their testicles so tight which is why they buck. Its abuse. Some people think, 'well its just an ugly bull', everything has inherent worth, even unto itself, pretty, ugly or otherwise. Its disturbing that rodeos are still very popular, bullfights are an absolute abonimation. It doesn't matter if they are bred for 'sport', they are being taunted and tortured, why humans don't appreciate the fact that they feel pain and suffer is beyond me. I'm not a militant PETA person by any means, but exploitation of anything, I believe, is a crime. Its terrible what they do to these animals.

Then why doesn't anyone take a stand against other sports? Football? Basketball? Soccer? Baseball? Hockey? HOCKEY?? People get hurt and brutalized in almost every game of each of those sports... But yet no one seems to care... They are exploited for their talents and undergo pain and all that other PETA crap just as well as the animals...

I don't think we'd do to animals what we don't already do to eachother...

And are you against eating meat as well? If you think about the structure of the world, you'll see that every animal has a sport... Wild cats tend to find their fun in chasing and murdering slow deer and other animals of the sort. Should we put an end to that? No... Also, if you take careful notice, you'll see that animals were put on earth for the specific pleasure of human beings, without being to spiritual about it... They are filled with protein and other essentials to human life that we couldn't do without... Do you think they'd really be around if we really didn't need them for certain things? No... They're here for our purposes... When they evolve into creatures that can talk and express their pain and feelings, then we can give a s h i t about them... Until then... It's not really a big deal...

And who are you? Paul McCartney's spokesman? Who cares what he thinks about a contest of the sort?

Anyway... I'm not really into any sport of any kind... But congrats on winning PC! Have fun!

This post deserves a prize. It is bizarre!

Where to begin?

Wild cats tend to find their fun in chasing and murdering slow deer and other animals of the sort. I don't think "fun" is quite the word you want here!

you'll see that animals were put on earth for the specific pleasure of human beings "PUT" on earth? By whom? For OUR pleasure?

Do you think they'd really be around if we really didn't need them for certain things? No... They're here for our purposes I respectfully point out to you that animals were around for a LONG LONG tim before people popped up. They aren't here for OUR purposes.

When they evolve into creatures that can talk and express their pain and feelings, then we can give a s h i t about them... Until then... It's not really a big deal... A finer rationale for cruelty and exploitation you wouldn't want to find.

I knew there were people like this, but ...

I found "PaulLennon's" post offensive in the extreme. This is a FORUM, where it ought to be expected and accepted that people respond to others' ideas, viewpoints, etc.

The only word I wrote that you could take exception to was "bizarre". And I think that MANY people would think it bizarre that animals are here for "our purpose".

And I still maintain that this idea: When they evolve into creatures that can talk and express their pain and feelings, then we can give a s h i t about them... Until then... It's not really a big deal... is a rationale for cruelty, as I said.

Now, Police Constable Number 31, you can agree or disagree to your heart's content. But try and realize that this is a forum - a place to discuss ideas. And that's what I'm doing - but nothing really offensive, unlike your remark about siblings!

Geez, somebody won some tickets to a rodeo and now its all this garbage about animal cruelity. What next? Its not like any of the animals in a rodeo get put down after the event. Yeah, we use cows and horses for a little sport. Its no big deal. To be honest, horses have no use anymore and if they ever did reach extinction, would the world be any worse off? At least we eat the cows.

Paul Lennons argument about the big cats killing for fun probably isnt so far off. I know for a fact that my cats toy with their prey when they do catch something. They'll just sit there and allow it to run for awhile and then they'll go slap it around and toss it upin the air and so forth. My point is,,,sometimes its not only for food that animals kill. They have a sense of humor too.

Calm down everybody its a rodeo.  Its for fun.  It probably gets a lot of people interested in horses.  Animal rights people seem to be spending their energy in the wrong places.  Once we've finished human rights, then i say we move to animals.  But while there's still torture, rape, warlords, and starvation I say we look at the big picture.

Plus its a rodeo!  Theyre fun!  And congrats to Marshal for winning!

Um ... go research rodeo cruelty.

How about we stop torture, rape, warlords, starvation (and disease and ignorance and bullying) and ... cruelty in all its forms.

Any exploitation of the weak by the strong is questionable, at the least.

maybe you could think about how everything affects your world.how america stole its land maybe or how it abused native americans, chinese, afro americans, mexicans, and every other race to hit these shores.but i think to critisize these shores you should at least be informed correctly....

I don't know what that last sentence means, but I agree with you about the other abuses that you mentioned, but its tangential. If there are abuses that exist that we can change, not support, etc., then we are at least doing something. History unfortunately can't be changed, but we can learn from it. We can do something about current abuses/exploitations. 'Fun' that involves cruelty and pain I consider deplorable, but people are ignorant and it perpetuates. If you feel different, so be it. That's my (last) two cents on the topic.

You animal activists are so fun to read... You think you know everything... You think this world is for every living, breathing thing to live in... I don't think so...

Many millions, billions, trillions of living things die a day... Humans, pigs, cows, bulls, donkeys, house cats, dogs, flies, bees, spiders, plants, PLANTS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE! By your logic (all you wonderful activists), any time we should see a fly or a spider in any kind of danger, we should run to save them! Or should we just step on them? Tell me, juniorsfarm, how many times have you swatted at a fly to get it away from you? Is that not animal torture? How many times have you hit a brother or sister or close friend? Not animal cruelty? Ever gone fishing (maybe not, because I know I haven't)? Cruelty... Have you ever actually gone to a rodeo? Probably not... But I'm sure you'd see that about one out of every 1000 bulls or other animals on this planet (that number is probably even very low, I'm just taking a wild guess here) participate in animal cruelty...

It's not like its a widespread thing... It's so ridiculous to see you all getting angry about this...

My post was basically meant to say, who gives a fu ck? I mean... They were put here, we were put here, we're all here... We're here to live how we want... Some people want to go save animals, others want to kill them and eat them for food, some want to hunt them for fun... Some animals are meant to be killed. Some animals aren't. Think of lions and tigers again... How many people do you know that go out to kill them? They're pretty hard to do so... Not to mention cheetas... And what use would they be to us? Not much... Then think of cows and pigs... Why else would they be here with all of that protein and why else would they be so easy to kill and have so much use? WHAT REASON WOULD THESE ANIMALS BE HERE FOR? Oh yea, to live freely on this planet amongst bigger stronger animals...

If you think about it, you're all f***ing hypocrits! None of you have a clue about anything. None of you can prove whether humans or animals were here first... None of you can prove if animals even feel pain (and I'm NOT saying they don't, I don't have a damned clue, you cockheads just take everything so literally! have an imagination!)... NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING! All we know is fight to survive... Don't take that so literally... Obviously we need to coexist with everything else... But we also need to survive ourselves... Kill the weaker animals for our use... If we didn't abuse animals or kill them, we'd DIE! Plain and simple... Some of you may say that we don't need to abuse animals to survive, but then again, how can you prove that wrong? By saying the exact sentence I said? Very nice.

Anyway, you're all hypocrits... Juniorsfarm... Do me a favor... Count how many times you've swatted at flies or stepped on a spider or an ant or whatever? You preach one thing then do any other... That's the exact defination of hypocrisy...

My tip to you guys, find a new thing to b**** about. I hear war's big... Why not try saving the environment or something?

Damnit! I wrote a whole three paragraph thing and it never posted sh*t... Ah well.. condensed version...

I like how you all show your intellegence by bashing me, my supposed background, my intellegence and a whole region of people. Not only did you not make any points but the regergitation of the same "hurting animals is bad!" whiny sh*t, but you've annoyed me to the point where I figure nothing can get through such thick skulls as yours.

The only person I have true respect for on this board is Mairi. She's the only one who actually made a point, and did it well... And I agree wholeheartedly with what she said.

Which leads me to say: the only reason I posted what I said was to start debate. To start interesting conversation. Not only did I not get it, but I got people who don't know how to argue and couldn't do it to save their lives. Thanks for that.

Not only do I love and respect animals, but I love every living creature on this planet. I just find it very ignorant that people think they can save anything that has more influence than they do. Do you really think you guys can stop a whole genre (so to speak) of people from doing what interests them? I think not... But nice try.

Anyway, perhaps you guys are too simple minded to look on a broader horizon than your small boundaries you've set for yourselves... Whenever I read any of your posts, all I heard was "me, me, me! hurting animals makes me sad! I want to stop it so i feel better about myself!" It's all bullsh*t if you ask me...

Anyway, long story short: I'm not an animal abuser, not an animal hater, not an animal rights activist. I let people do what they want because we're here together. Get it?

And juniorsfarm, you say you're not an animal activist? The definition of the word is someone who takes a stand or position on a controversial issue. What the fcuk (<-purposely done ;))?

Also, for the masterful wordsman Ydoll Gwyn: so you know, I am not a redneck or from anywhere in the south. I am an A+ student and artist, musician, etc. A tree hugging hippy, if you will... I was born and raised in central New Jersey and now live in Southern California. I have an open mind to all things on this earth and I do not have any speaking deficiencies (I don't spit when I talk). I am not ignorant and I am very intelligent. I average about 99% on most of the standardized tests and I've lived this world with wide open eyes to see how everything actually works. I'm not a slave to society or industry or the president. You can call me a rebel, but I don't give a sh*t. I believe in anarchy but I'm not a punk. I am just living. How about you?

Thought most people will say I'm making all of that up because you can say anything on the internet. But I don't give a sh*t. I've got nothing to prove.

Anyway, thanks Mairi for some interesting points. You actually put them beautifully, if I may say so. Thanks. :)

68 IQ I've decided.  Here's a few of your sentences:  If you think about it, you're all f***ing hypocrits! None of you have a clue about anything. None of you can prove whether humans or animals were here first... None of you can prove if animals even feel pain (and I'm NOT saying they don't, I don't have a damned clue, you cockheads just take everything so literally!

This is your idea of debate? "Cockheads?" "f***ing hypocrites"? Also asking if I'm Paul's spokesman. I don't waive signs and release animals from farms, so I don't consider myself an activist. But I am posting back and forth with a mindtrust that can't fathom that animals feel pain, so maybe I'm the idiot after all. Have you ever accidentally stepped on a dog or cat's paw? What happened Einstein? They cried out. They didn't say "I beg your pardon, but that really hurt". By the way, that was a lovely attempt at a save by kissing Mairi's ass just to prove you really are a good guy, but, I don't think anyone will buy it, but you are such a simp, I'm sure you're thinking it was a smart move. Adios Moron (I figure that's a level you could understand).
Title: Re: i won rodeo tickets for answer this beatles trivia
Post by: on March 29, 2005, 12:43:57 AM
What are you talking about? I don't have to kiss anyone's ass to make myself feel good. I did the right thing, because I felt her post was probably the best out of anything anyone has said in this topic. No one seemed to make any good arguments besides her. If it was kissing ass, I would've said much more...

And I've never stepped on a cat or dog's tail. I'm smart enough to see where they are so I don't do that. And I asked if you were Paul's spokesman because you said, "what would Paul think" blah blah blah...

I'm tired of replying to petty whiny posts... I've got enough b****es to argue with in real life to worry about invisible ones on a message board.

But thanks for... whatever you'd like to call that...

Oh, and thanks for taking an exerpt from all of my posts to prove a tiny point. That really makes you look good.

Ah well... I guess I won't be coming back here again. Not because of you, but because the whole atmosphere is screwed BECAUSE of you ;)

You seem to have a way with words. You should be proud.

So Tkitna, I take it from what you say there that you think it's OK for humans to inflict pain on animals for our amusement?

Personally, I think rodeos are the dumbest things on the planet besides the rednecks (in general, not to you PC) who take part in them.

However, since the issue here are/was supposed to be the won tickets and not animal cruelty, I say we just congratulate PC and move on.

This was the 'argument'/reason 68 left. Apparantly my opinion made me a troll once again. I believe what I said and my conscience is clear. If other members are p*ssed, there's not much I can do about it. If PC wants to go to a rodeo, they are legal, so he's entitled to go to a rodeo. I just stated my opinion, but if someone is going to jump and start saying stupid crap like 68 did, I'm not going to back down. He gets upset, says he's going to leave, and now I'm a troll. I didn't bait him so I don't get it. So if stating my opinion makes me a troll, so be it.

Yes, we've been doing it since the age of time, why stop now. Again, i'll bring up horses (at least we eat cows), what purpose do these animals serve in this day and age. None, except for amusement! If we're not being amused by these animals, I think we should kill them all, give Sally Struthers the remains, and be on with our lives. Remember, horses fart and therefore, contribute in the ozone layer problem. We can at least eliminate that percentage.

At last a straight answer.

But I think you're confused between (1) us killing & eating animals, (2) domesticating some of them for our own ends (companionship, food, sport), and (3) inflicting pain for our pleasure (eg rodeos, cock fights, bear baiting).

It's Number 3 I find absolutely unjustifiable. And cruelty/inflicting pain should not occur in (1) and (2).

And by the way, the gases emitted in horses' farts (and cows, deer, us etc) do NOT affect the ozone layer. These gases are "greenhouse gases", and as such are implicated in global warming.
