Annoying.
Welcome, by the way. Can't have enough Dutchies over here! As far as I know, you're number four.

Thank you. Nice that you like 'Dutchies' here so much;-). Annoying... No, I don't think that is exactly what I mean... I think "whining" covers it.

eh, but Mr. Moonlight isn't even their song. it was written by Roy Johnson. I honestly cannot dislike any of their songs that they've written...even Rev. 9. i mean every single one was an expression regardless of how god awful it may have been. eh, if it was a matter of life and death on which to choose, i'd have to go with Within You Without You. its lyrically good but the way they did it just made it crappy compared to everything else. kinda sad that i would put that as lower then Rev. 9 but at least i can stand listening to Rev. 9 instead of skipping over WYWY

It's not their own song, but I don't like the way they sing it.

Thanks. I transcribed it the best I could.

Well, I'm Dutch myself, hehehe. Just a bit of nationalism over here...  ;)

Its too bad my Brother-In-Law wasn't more of a Beatles fan. He's from Amsterdam. Last name is Voute. I'll have to let him know his fellow Dutchmen/Women are a force on this website.

Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Pity his bandmates put up with the never-ending takes of this piece of drivel from McCartney.
[...]

Well, another (wrong) myth  ::) ... those never-ending takes weren't so ... and that song isn't among the ones that took a long time or a lot of takes to be recorded ...

... I can stand all their own compositions ... but not some of the covers they made ...

... here I vote for Dig It/Maggie Mae ...

P.S. Some of the choices are among my favourites ...

I have to admit - Why Don't We Do It In The Road is a personal favourite to listen to - although my mam did comment "what the hell is this?!" when I had it blasting in the car once ...  and she lived through such music!!!!! Ahhhhhh!  >:( :)

Have to agree about Maxwell's Silver Hammer. In a 1977 interview, George described it as 'fruity'. Sounds like earlier Beatles style to me, and would have fitted on either of the 1967 albums. Could have worked then, but sounds boring to me with the slicker Abbey Road album production. Out of place.

I happen to like Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the cheery tune and dark subject matter.

I voted for Why Don't We Do It In The Road.

3 of the songs are amongst my favourites, and Rev. 9 isn't really a song at all.

I never cared much for Revolution #9.  That was Yoko's stuff anyway.  About the only thing it was good for was playing it backwards........we were looking for "clues" at the time.  Come to think of it, it sounded a whole lot better in reverse!

I don't think so! i couldn't imagine abbey road without it to be honest, it's an important part of the puzzle, like wayne on these forums, it would be odd without it. I love the tune, and yeah the whole juxtaposition of it all!!

As far as Hello Goodbye being listed on the poll, this was the only song on the list to make it to #1 on both UK and US charts.  I remember it being played on the radio incessantly throughout the Fall of 1967.  Everyone liked it as it was the perfect denouement after the heady Sgt. Pepper's.  Clever of the Beatles to appear in full Pepper regalia for the promo!

I'm rather partial to this song.

To be honest i don't find it partiuculary interesting, or anywhere near the scale of something like ' a day in the life', or even 'love me do' for that case..its a v. average song, nothing special, i don't think.

I'm interested to know why Hello Goodbye and Flying have been grouped together?
