'Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is my least favorite.  Paul tries to do a sick song and it just doesn't work.  Sounds like second-rate Gilbert and Sullivan (and I generally despise Gilbert and Sullivan).

It's odd to think that about the time Paul was dreaming up this pseudo-homocidal pablum, Manson was being "inspired" by "Helter Skelter" and "Piggies."

But it's not really about homocide. It's more of a metaphor.

You just mentioned there two of my favorite all-time Beatles songs: Hello Goodbye and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. Oh c'mon they're awesome!

I can't actually of any Beatles song so unable to stand.

However, I guess the closest to those kind would be Within You Without You and I Want You (She's So Heavy). They really annoy me because each one ruins the perfection of each album they belong to.

I guess the reason I hate Maxwell so much is that Randy Newman or Warren Zevon could have taken this subject and done something compelling and twisted.  Paul just makes it cute.  And he forced the other guys to do it over  and over again at a time when they weren't getting along.

Jeez, you can't really blame Lennon for leaving the band after spending hours doing "doo doo doo doo" backups to this kind of crap.  Yoko's warbling must have sounded pretty refreshing after that.

I will take exception to the inclusion of Hello Goodbye and Oblida-Oblada to the worst songs list.  HG is an excellent song--very well put together musically and it works with the minimalist lyrics.

The one I most can't stand is Revolution 9, but other than that it's just about only Don't Pass Me By.

How can you guys like the Beatles, when you dislike stuff like All you need is love??? You consider yourselves big fans but you hate half of their songs.
Also Mr. Moonlight is great and the 'cheesy' organ is so cool.
Don't be hatin too much, some of these songs are my life.

I'm not sure why Mr. Moonlight and Hello Goodbye are on there, I love them both.

I chose Ob La Di Ob La Da... I can't stand that song and I'm pretty sure its the root of my hatred of Paul  ;)

Yellow Submarine isn't a very good song but it doesn't really bother me. when ob la di is on I want to bang my head against a wall.

Out of the 200+ Beatles songs out there, I think the only ones I truly dislike are Ob La Di Ob La Da, Revolution 9, When I'm Sixty-Four, and With a Little Help From My Friends.

What about Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby? Bungalow Bill? Devil In Her Heart? Rock And Roll Music (I hate from the very start). Words Of Love? When I'm 64?

I stand with you Mairi.

I think people use it as an example of Mccartney being over-sickly.
But, I love When I'm 64 for its underlying dark psychedelic nature.
Like much of Peppers, what seems to be clean, colourful and innocent, has a dark, grotesque and unsettling feel.

Love the rest of Pepper, but 64 just isn't the song to me. Sorry.

Rock 'n Roll Music isn't one of my favorites either, though John sings his heart out. Don't really get impressed by Honey Don't, not even when John's singing it.

I despise You Know My Name [Look Up The Number]. Not exactly despise, but I don't like it. I also don't like very much the German versions of She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand.

I listened to it last night especially, but I don't get any of that. It sounds...well....clean, colourful and innocent. :)
