Or it could be seen as a very understandable - if a bit ill concieved - reaction by a man who for decades was portrayed as a gooey eyed crowd pleasing romantic against Lennons equally false personna of the innovative free-thinking rock and roll rebel. Macca's rep has had a bit of a rennaiscance (sp) since Britpop, but pick up any of the "serious" music press from the seventies or eighties and you'll see why McCartney maybe felt a little undervalued and misunderstood and felt the need for a little redress.

I agree; and since I've already done my rant about the sheer badness of most rock writing (especially rock criticism), I won't repeat it here. Mairi's point about school textbooks getting basic facts wrong is well taken, too.

I agree with the above, and understand Paul very well. Why not claim what is yours? And show the world that it was you who did it. But in our striving to establish the truth we sometimes overlook the fact that it might look more like making a fuss than doing a heroic deed. And, i doubt that he got any satisfaction when he had achieved the aim. (Because everybody noticed it and remarked on the reasons.)
I quote: "Bob Geldof, a huge admirer, but one infuriated by McCartney`s defensiveness about who was the "groovy" Beatle, once told him, "There is no greater achievement in the 20th century to beat what you and your mate did...there are the great artists, you`re one of them. Relax!"

I love you, Paul!

well I don't think Paul proved much with his last album to tell the truth. He had a good Starbucks gig but before I really knew who he was, because I was younger, it was just annoying to me.
whistling with some guitar thing. :-/-- that's what I thought when I was younger.

no I wasn't.
well I've always known about the Beatles and been into their music but I didn't take the time to get into solo stuff and past albums in depth like I have now. I wish I had because they're a cool bunch :)
