I really like their version of "Somebody to Love" so I bought this. It's good! I was surprised to find a Nat King Cole song that my mom liked, "Nature Boy" but then I did some reading and found out it was about Gypsy Boots, who was probably the first hippie. "Father Bruce", inspired by Lenny Bruce and Bob Dylan's "Outlaw Blues" are good too.

Pete Townshend - Empty Glass

Do you like that album Ovi? I prefer any album by the Who from 1965 to 1978, but in my opinion that album is better than Face Dances. I think it was a pretty solid debut for Pete as a solo artist.

I actually got that one just yesterday! I did give it a listen and liked a few things, but it served more as background music, as I was working on an essay at the same time. It's nice to hear that you like it more than 'Face Dances', though I don't know just how much of a compliment is that, since FD is probably the most un-Who Who album ever released...

But I'll give it a few more listens in the near future and come back with more opinions.

I actually like Face Dances though it's not a favorite, but you're right, the sound is not very Who. I still think that It's Hard is much worse. But don't expect to find plenty of Who-like music in Empty Glass, you'll find that just at moments ("Rough Boys"; title track; "Gonna Get Ya").

'It's Hard' is by no means a good album (the fact that Pete called it "great" in his book really came as a shock), but at least it's got 'Eminence Front', which I really like. It's a got a very decadent, distant and paranoid atmosphere that probably resembled Townshend's state at the time and I really dig that.

I wish the new Who vinyl box set had Live at Leeds, Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy and Odds and Sods instead of Face Dances, It's Hard and Endless wire.  But then it wouldn't be called The Studio Albums.  My name would be The Good Ones.

The Byrds-First 5 albums original mono mixes (Sundazed)

Have you listened to Gene Clark's first solo album? If you haven't you should. I think you'll enjoy it if you like the early Byrds' albums. The solo debut of the original main songwriter of the Byrds is called Gene Clark With The Gosdin Brothers, released in early 1967. All songs written and sung by Gene Clark, with a very byrdish sound: jangly guitars, deep harmony vocals and even byrds Chris Hillman and Mike Clarke on bass and drums, respectively. Glorious mid-60's rock.

Gene Clark - So You Say You Lost Your Baby (mono 45 version, 1967)
