Just a little idea I had last night.

I'd like to start with this one for Hello Goodbye
I know he likes older stuff and he appreciates good harmonies and he has a liking for acoustic music with strong melody.

Amazing Blondel are an English acoustic folk band, containing Eddie Baird, John Gladwin, and Terry Wincott. They released a number of LPs for Island Records in the early 1970s. They are sometimes categorised as psychedelic folk or as medieval folk rock.
The band was named after Blondel de Nesle, the musician in the court of Richard I. According to legend, when Richard was held prisoner, Blondel travelled through central Europe, singing at every castle to locate the King and assist his escape. This name for the band was suggested by a chef, Eugene McCoy, who listened to some of their songs and commented: "Oh, very Blondel!" and they began to use that name. They were then advised to add an adjective (in line, for example, with The Incredible String Band) and so they became "Amazing Blondel".

Anyway Baz I hope you like it, give it a few plays, the orchestrations at the outro are lovely....

I chose this for moog.

Spring.
A one-shot band, it recorded only one album in its career, a self-titled LP released in 1971. Spring's music is notable for the use of the mellotron with three of the its five members credited with playing that instrument on the album.

Only one album then , what a shame, I love it.

This is a track called Golden Fleece.

Why thanks Nim. That's cool. I'm always a sucker for mellotron. And I like that sustained fuzz guitar sound. Moody Blues-ish. Good guitarist too.

I haven't ever heard of these guys. Interesting. Did any of the members go on to other notable bands?

This is from 1968.

Caravan are an English band from the Canterbury area, founded by former Wilde Flowers members David Sinclair, Richard Sinclair, Pye Hastings and Richard Coughlan in 1968. The band have not achieved much commercial success, but are considered a key part of the Canterbury scene, blending psychedelic rock, jazz and classical influences to create a distinctive sound.

I've always admired them and have all their albums.

Thanks nimrod! I liked the hypnotic melody and the sound of drums; and that organ captured my attention. Lovely song, somehow it reminds me to Traffic.

Here I bring something for you. I know you love Cream's psychedelic blues-based music, so maybe you'd also enjoy these songs by Jefferson Airplane. They are two of the few songs that lead guitarist Jorma Kaukonen wrote and sang in the group, from the albums After Bathing At Baxter's (1967) and Crown Of Creation (1968). They include virtuous guitar and bass playing.

I'm not sure what you meant by that statement, Andres. All four are virtuoso blues artists. Jorma Kaukonen plays in a Delta Blues style as taught to him by Ian Buchanan (who was my teacher as well more than a decade later). Jack Bruce and Jack Casady are both well-known for their complicated bass accompaniment and solos. I feel they are on an equal par.

I'm comparing their respective works on Jefferson Airplane and Cream; and even though I love them all, I think that Clapton was better than Kaukonen on guitar and Casady was better than Bruce on bass. Just my opinion based on my own appreciation and not on technical issues.

I don't like to categorize and rank when it comes to music, Andres. Jack Bruce was two years status post liver transplant and not able to stand up for parts of the concert when he performed this in 2005...

Was driving to spring break with a couple of my buddies during college. One of them handed me a cassette tape and I tossed it in and America's Muskrat Love started playing. That tape got immediately tossed out the window.

Its just me, but I never cared for that song.

Well, I liked the song when it came out. We had 8-track tapes at the time though.

But hey, it was 1973!

I liked The Captain And Tennille's cover when it was released. How can anyone resist Toni's Tennille's smile? And so I rediscovered America's version. I'm still fond of the song today.

I do like doing those categorizations and rankings, I think it's fun. But when I listen to music I don't think about that. For instance, today I've listened to Jefferson Airplane's Crown Of Creation and really enjoyed Kaukonen's guitar; I didn't stop and think "oh, Clapton would have done that better". And when I say that Clapton is better I don't mean to underestimate Kaukonen (who is actually one of my favorite guitarists) but to acknowledge Clapton as one of the best among the best guitarists. I think the same about Casady among the bassists.

Thanks Hombre I like both of those, Star Track being my favourite, I'm a sucker for a Moody growling bass line and I seem to be appreciating more laid back music as I get older
