Recycled rhymes
« on: November 14, 2013, 01:25:37 AM »

I was thinking about the recycled rhymes in Beatles songs, sometimes a rapid (and maybe unconscious) resource when time hurries up for writing a song.

As an example, I was always impressed about how many great songs the guys could write in such a short time for Rubber Soul. That may explain that the same rhyme can be found in three different songs from that album:

Drive My Car: "I told that girl that my prospects were good; she said baby, it's understood"

The Word: "In the beginning I misunderstood; but now I've got it, the word is good"

Girl: "When you say she's looking good; she acts as if it's understood"

Thanks God that John prevented Paul from recycling once again the "rings"-"things" rhyme from "Can't Buy Me Love" and "I Feel Fine" in "Drive My Car"!

Ah...interesting Andrés! I'll have to listen and see if I can find any more.

That's really observant, Hombre. I'll have to pay more careful attention when listening.
