This is a trailer for a proposed documentary on session bassist Carol Kaye. I guess it didn't get made but there is an hour long interview with her on YouTube. I can't believe I never heard of her before.

Great find Kelley. I can't believe I've never heard of her either. I'd have thought she'd rate a mention when i was learning bass in the late 70s. Donald Duck Dunn was the only session bassist i recall getting many wraps back then.

I'm pretty sure I've been hearing her tonight while I've been listening to The Mama and the Papas Greatest Hits. I know that she did play on some of their tracks. I wish there was a definitive listing of what she's done but I'm sure that would be impossible to say. I'm going to be wondering a lot now..."Is that her?" LOL

Barry, thank you so much for taking the time to post all this great information on The Wrecking Crew. That was so nice of you! I just happened to see that clip I posted when someone shared it on Facebook and it really grabbed me. Now I see why. I enjoyed your videos so much I ordered this book:

It will help pass the time until the DVD of the documentary comes out. I've already put it in my Netflix queue and I registered on the film's website to be notified when it is released. After I did this page with a bunch of outtakes came up:

Again, thanks for helping me with my latest obsession.  ;)

And one of my favorites...

The Partridge Family

;D

The Wrecking Crew

I know why this is one of your favorites. It's not The Wrecking Crew; it's that case of Susan Dey that you've had all these years!

This is my favorite Wrecking Crew album, in addition to Pet Sounds:

I'll be listening to these with a whole new focus!

Yeah, Susan Dey.  But, like Ali MacGraw after her, it was just a mild case...

Linda Ronstadt is another matter completely...

Kelley, I knew about this back in 1972 when I started taking blues guitar lessons from Ian Buchanan.  As I once mentioned, his friend Al Kooper once stopped by to visit during one of my lessons.  His career included being a session guitarist and keyboardist during the 1960s.  He had some interesting stories to tell...

That must have been so interesting. I'd like to hear the Super Session album again. It's been a long time but I remember that I really liked it.
