Title: Looking for Framus Hootanany
Post by: Muzickrox14 on November 29, 2016, 07:16:22 AM
Hello everyone! I've been trying to hunt down a Framus Hootananny 12 string for a while now, and I was wondering if anyone out there had one for sale or maybe knew where I could find one elsewhere? I'm aware of the one on Ebay that's currently priced at over $5000, but I don't have that kind of money to spend on it at the moment. If anyone has one they'd be willing to sell, let me know and I'll be happy to work out a deal that works for both of us.

Thanks! :D
-Tony

Sorry Tony. If I had one, I think I wouldn't sell.

Posts like the above do make me wonder (and you see them often in classified ads) What kind of deal would Tony offer to make up for the fact he wants you to sell at less than market price? Become your slave for a year? Trade you for an as new HD Tv that fell off the back of a truck? A discount on smoothies at his health bar?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Give me a Westerly Guild JF30-12 any day...

I already have one, a 1991.  With its thin neck (1 13/16" at nut), it's very easy to play.   icon_good

Nice. While I’ve owned a stack of guitars in my time, I’ve never had a twelve string. Might need to change that. Anyone got a Framus Hootenany they’ll sell cheap? I’ll make it worth your while.  ;D

Moog, if you're serious about a twelve string, the Guild JF30-12 is the one to get.  The flamed maple body with arched back, three-piece neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge, spruce top and gold Grover tuners make for a handsome and full-sounding guitar.  The neck is contoured nicely and the 1 13/16" width at the nut makes it easy to play.  Mine has a factory-installed Fishman pickup mounted under the bridge with a tailpin jack.  It sounds nice with or without an amp.

Right.  You owe it to yourself, Moog mate.  Make sure it was made in Westerly Rhode Island, so prior to 2001.  I think 1987 was the first year of production.

I was at this 1995 concert at Caesar's Atlantic City.  It was a club concert so it was just the band and no orchestra.  There were only about 300 people in the room.  I was sitting at a table right in front of Justin Hayward.  I even had the chance to speak with him a bit.  Their encore, those days, was always the same...Ride My See-Saw, Question and I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band)...

When I heard that Guild 12-string, I just had to get one for myself!  I found a nice used one which was hardly played.
