Wings Minor Hits
« on: January 05, 2008, 05:39:38 PM »

Wings had several minor hit singles on the US and UK Charts between 1975 and 1979 , so which of these songs is your favourite ? Lesser Wings Hit ? :)

PS i know Girl's School was a 2 million seller in the UK , but in America it was released as an A side only the states missed out on Mull Of Kintyre .

Ive voted for  " London Town " it reached # 60 in the UK and # 39 on Billboard .
Having watched the video for it on The McCartney Years , i think it's a great little single and should have been a bigger hit on both sides of the Atlantic , it's one of Paul and Denny's better songs, and is very underrated in my opinion ? :)

Man this is a tough one. At this moment in time...I can't decide! But I have to say its between London Town and Letting Go. I love them both, but I don't know which I like more.

Im not sure he could do the vocal these days Andy ? One of the things i like about  " Back To The Egg " though is that it's maybe the last time Paul really pushed himself vocally over an entier album it's got some great vocal rocker's on it , and Old Siam Sir is the best he sounds like a " Mad Braying Donkey " on this track ?  :)

Ever wondered if that's the last time he was able to sing like that? He was 37 when that was recorded. By the time you're that age you've really got to look after your voice, and I expect his vocal chords had been mildly shredded over the years.

Is voice is'nt bad for his age today, but if you go back to Egg it's also not got the power he had then .

'Getting Closer' (Pauls voice never sounded this good. Ever.)

I did have to sit here and decide 2 or 3 different times between 'Getting Closer' and 'Old Siam Sir' though.

Letting Go. A punch in the face for those who say they never matched  Beatle quality during their solo years.

Possibly my favourite Macca solo song. Some people have mentioned London Town, and I have to confess that I've never heard it! :o

Well London Town is only a few month's short of 30 years old , so i think you have waited long enough for it to be discounted BlueMeanie .
You should check it out , it's quite a good album, much more mellow than there other albums and some great co-written songs from Paul and Denny 5 in total .
There is a folky feel to this album which i love and Paul does one of his best production jobs .
It's well worth a listen BlueMeanie and i would welcome your very late review of it  ;D
