Lennon's cousin objects to TV film

The oldest surviving relative of former Beatle John Lennon has condemned a television documentary about his killer.
Stanley Parkes, Lennon's cousin, said the programme, which will be aired on the 25th anniversary of his death, glorified a killer.
M*** C****** shot the rock star in New York on December 8, 1980 after having the former Beatle autograph an album.
Channel 4's 'I Killed John Lennon' features tape recordings of C****** taken in the early 1990s by his biographer, Jack Jones.
Mr Parkes, 72, a retired motor engineer, who lives in the Ayrshire seaside town of Largs, said his family had not been consulted about the programme. He said the decision to air the tapes added to his family's distress. "I think it's absolutely horrendous. It's very upsetting for us as a family but we have no way of stopping it.", he said.
"Channel 4 are glorifying a killer. C****** is a total nutcase and he's never to my knowledge shown any remorse for killing John. He shot John to make himself notorious and Channel 4 are simply feeding his craving for fame.", he added.
The memory of hearing about Lennon's death on the radio news at the Highland croft in Durness where he used to share his childhood holidays with the rock star, remained etched in his mind, he said.
"I still remember the horror of turning on the radio and hearing John had been shot dead. The anniversary of John's death is bad enough without this programme as well." he continued.
The killer, interviewed in New York's Attica state prison where he is currently serving a 20-year-to-life sentence for the murder, said he had hoped his "identity would be found" by shooting Lennon, who was just 40 when he died. The 50-year-old was refused parole for a third time last year but may seek a new parole review in 2006.
A spokeswoman for Channel 4 said: "The programme is very much a serious documentary and has been handled accordingly. The programme looks into C******'s psychology. It is about the mind of a murderer rather than about John Lennon. Neither M*** C****** nor his family have received payment."

I was going to watch it. But what I've heard from that dick head in trails for it has made me very angry and I have no desire to be.
-

1) theres nothing else on tv!
2) its like the only proigramme on john lennon thats bound to be on for a long time
3)and im quite interested on seeing CH***** interviewed

I'm going to watch it. I want to try and understand (not forgive, but understand)
-
I'm so glad you didn't type in that thing's name.
I'd do just fine if I never had to read it or hear it again.
I refuse to watch anything about that murderer.
-
I did happen to watch it and must admit it really wasn't sympathetic to the killer and proved he really has not changed or reformed. It also showed that despite all of his assertions that he's changed he still shows absolutely no remorse. I don't think he'll be out any thime soon.

I video'ed it. My mate said it was pants...Nothing new to glean?
-
Nothing new really, just shows how how self-obsessed he was and still is, Interesting though.

Cheers for the straight talk. ;) I'll check it out when I get a chance. Not sure how I'll stomach his mug yet. lol

parasites are a fact of life...if something is wrong with his head..i say we cut it open and find out what went wrong and prevent the abnormality from reoccuring...either that or put him in a empty glass cylinder past his head, high enough he can't climb out, anchor him to the bottom, then have lennon fans p*ss in the cyliner until he drowns....oh and i missed it on the tube....
-
hehehehehe
-
for my part in the p*ssing..i am willing to pound a few gallons down so my bladder would be full upon releasing....
-
Normal strength lager should do the trick. lol

I watched it to the first ad break then couldn't do anymore. I couldn't help feeling that he was enjoying himself too much. Those posed photos did it for me.
The Best of Tommy Cooper on ITV was much more edifying.

Pehaps the main thing to understand from that documentary is that after 25 years, the murderer shows no remorse whatsoever but is still totally self-absorbed!

it was crap lol
