Title: What is Paul's worst moment after the Beatles?
Post by: Wayne L. on March 09, 2005, 12:31:26 AM
I think Paul's worst moment as an artist after the Beatles would have to be his rock movie debacle Give My Regards To Broadstreet since he probably thought it was still the 60's in his mind & this was his sequel to A Hard Day's Night as well as having the worst Beatles covers ever by the former Beatle himself sadly.

Naaahh... Broadstreet is had a bad script, but at least I got to watch Paul onscreen. ;)
His worst moment was probably the pot bust in 1980.

Wayne always slags on 'GMRTB', but he remembers the movie more so than the music. 'Worst' Beatle covers by any other Beatle? Did John and George ever cover and record Beatle tunes? If they did, its not coming to me right now. Anyways, I like the soundtrack ( a lot) and the movie was dumb, but its got some decent footage.

Pauls worst moment was the McCartney 2 album. Horrible.

As an artist? Probably the BROAD STREET film, yeah. Also the DRIVING RAIN album.

That Tw@ish hair cut he had in the early eighties. Bad curtains!

How do I answer this? Let me count the ways ...
Broadstreet
Letting Linda play in his band
Driving Rain, Off The Ground, Macca 2, At The Speed Of Sound, ... on and on (BUT there are some gems scattered here and there)
His "books" - poetry (= lyrics, some of which had Lennon input!), paintings.
His "classical" stuff. Yawn.

That's enough!

Paul's fans might get hot under the collar when he gets "bashed" in the media, and on web boards. But by golly, he has set himself up nicely for a walloping, hasn't he?

John and George in concerts. John's one-to-one concert, and Toronto.

George: many occasions: Japan, 1974 North American tour, Prince's Trust.

But as a re-work in the studio, which is prob what you mean, no. Only NOT GUILTY is

Much rather hear Linda than Yoko (the slant eyed satan) screaming on stage.

Come on Ydoll. Lets take 'Off The Ground' (love that entire album) and 'At The Speed Of Sound' off that list and enter 'Pipes Of Peace' and 'Press To Play'. (I know i'm setting myself up for a Paul bashing, but it had to be done.)

**I thought half of 'Driving Rain' was fantastic and the other half was blah. If only there was a happy medium**

I love the whole "Off the Ground" album. 'Pipes of Peace' I could probably do without, but I'd rather have it than not. I love 'Stranglehold' off of "Press to Play". The only thing I really can't get into is the 'Liverpool Sound Collage'.

Jeepers i'm tuned,,,I spelled 'peace' as 'piece' in my oroginal post. Had to change it (thanks Jr), but i agree with what you posted. I love 'stranglehold' too (actually I like a lot of that album), but would have to sub this one for 'SOS' as I like that album better.

For me, it's the WINGS WILD LIFE album in 1972, because there's no remarkable song on it. It was a rarely rehearshed recorded session of a nervous band led by an unsafe feeling bandleader, so ........
Broadstreet is musically ok I think, not a hit, but ok. But the film is terrible I have to agree. Klaus

No, I'm saying putting yourself into that position of glorified elitism only displays a striking pretentiousness. Recommendation & personal acclaim for one's posts does nothing for a forum.
Sometimes the choice and order of indulgent words may help, other times stripping a post of any irrelevance strengthens the point at hand. I chose the latter.

I've read some old posts from Joe K. And if he's gone, this board has lost yet another good poster.

I know I'll draw fire for this: but here goes. This board has a right strong collection of mean-spirited people. Not all of course, but enough to ensure a constant low hum of bickering and sniping.

And just to head some of you off at the pass: Charlie fired the first shot in our war. If you go back to the thread where it all started, you'll see I gave a view about ideas taking off on the internet. The reply from Charlie was "F*ck You". No man can allow that sort of stuff, so it was on. Notice however, that at no stage did I swear or use profanities. I just chopped him to pieces with words and logic. And now he's gone. The board feels better, but gee I wish some others would go so we could talk about Beatles, and Beatles only.

Tkitna, I think it's pretty clear that Joe was DEFENDING himself. He was giving back what was being laid down on him.

I've got nothing especially against swearing: my point was that the first thing Charlie said involved an inappropriate "F*ck You". I didn't reply likewise. But no-one could have blamed a response imitating Charlie's abusive lines. Instead, I chose a method Charlie wouldn't really understand: logic. He knew he was being chopped - he just couldn't return it.

Joe clearly chose a different way. That's fine. But I notice that his logic was brilliant too!
