Keith Moon
« on: May 25, 2004, 01:06:44 AM »

Ok, so I just read that Roger Daltrey has been trying to get a movie made about Keith Moon for years. He is said to want Mike Myers as Keith. NO WAY! I don't see it. But if this happens, a good choice would be Jason Schwartzman from Rushmore. Not only does he look like the guy, but he's an actual drummer. I don't know how many Who fans are on this board, but I for one would love a Keith Moon movie. The guy was one of a kind. Awesome drummer and not bad to look at either. Well in the early days that is. I wonder if they would put in the scene where he runs over his personal assistant! Anyway, if you want to see the resemblence of Jason and Keith, heres a link with pictures.

I'm surprised she stuck with him as long as she did! Three broken noses!
Now that's love! Or studpidity. He should have been on prozac.

I personally like the bottle that was stuck in the wall (was thrown during a fight). They left it there for decor.

I have heard Roger Daltrey is considering Mike Myers to play the late, great Keith Moon possibly during his later years in this bio pic which is crazy.

I personally think Myers would do a good job. What he lacks in the drumming chops department, he more than makes up for it in his acting skills. The movie would have more mass appeal with a big name actor anyways. Whoever gets the part will have to have a ton of training behind the kit anyways.

Animal! That's funny. I bet he was based on Keith! Mike Myers? Eww. I like him, but not as Keith Moon. He's too old anyway. He's already lived longer than Keith. Although, Keith looked pretty old towards the end. I still like Jason Schwartzman for young Keith. I love the bottle in the wall story. They put a frame around it! I think they were both wacked.

I could dig up a link, but i'm lazy right now. The short of it is that Keith and Kim had a fight and one of them (cant remember which) threw a bottle at the other one and missed. The bottle smashed into the wall and stuck there. They left it there as a little reminder. I'll look up the story a little later.

He posed for a picture with the framed bottle. Some group put it on the cover or back cover of their album. Can't remember who, but it was recent. Does anyone here agree with the statement that he was the best rock drummer ever? I've read that a lot of musicians feel that he was. I couldn't really say, but I did like to watch him play. He was very animated to say the least!

I wouldn't say the best rock drummer ever, but certainly in the top 3 along with Bonham and an unnamed player yet to be determined.

He did some amazing things, but I cant really say he was the best. I cant say anybody was really the best (well, maybe Buddy Rich). Different strokes for different folks.

I think Keith Moon was probably the most flamboyant rock drummer in the world - his timing was pretty terrrible though!

His drumming went beyond what everyone else was doing, or does now for that matter. I love it. He was definitely and innovater of some sort.
