Paul's Best Album This Decade ?
« on: December 02, 2008, 10:51:20 AM »

It's been a really productive and creative decade for Paul , not since his 60's & 70's heyday as he been this creative in my opinion .
With the release of "Electric Arguments" he's put together a remarkable quintet of both studio and classical albums , which i think you can say is a real purple patch .
So which of these five  very diverse albums stands out for you and why ?

I think Electric Arguments is an outstanding creative achievement , it's rough around the edges but beautiful at it's center.
Some reviewer's  have likend it too The Beatles White Album , which i can see it as echoes of ?
It's a chart flop but a critical success for Paul which is kind of ironic.
Along with Ram , Electric Arguments gives me two doses of McCartney home brew , so for that alone it gets my vote , plus it really is a great album thats just going to grow in my affection (thumbsup)

Electric Arguments. I like noise and rough edges.

same here.  I ment to go out and get Electric Arguments yesterday but I didn't have the car and thus didn't feel like walking to the mall.
C&C definately changed me for the better, and MAF I feel like it almost glimpsed into Paul as a person, not just this huge icon.

Havent heard 'Electric Arguments' yet (wife's buying it for me for christmas) so I cant judge it.

'Chaos and Creation' wins this list for me easily until I hear 'EA'. Its no secret that I didnt care for 'MAF' and 'Driving Rain' was average at best. The classical album is alright for what it is but lets be honest here.

Very tough decision.

I've only actually heard Driving Rain, Chaos and Creation, and Memory Almost Full.  It almost depends which mood I'm in.  I think Driving Rain is easily one of his most underrated albums.  I like all the songs, I used to listen to that album over and over when it came out.

When I first heard snippets of the songs from Memory Almost Full, I was underwhelmed, and didn't expect much out of the album.  But of course I still bought it.  And I was pleasantly surprised.  Also, I must say that this album really grows on you.

But I ended up voting for Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.  This would easily by critics be considered his best album so far this decade, and I can see why.  Plus it is quite impressive that the guy played all the instruments on it.  It really is a pleasant listen.

But it looks like I need to check out Electric Arguments!

Oh, and I am a fan of classical music.  How is Ecce Cor Meum?

I love Chaos and Creation... I think it is one of Paul's best albums, not just for this decade, but best albums period.

Chaos. Though I'm not overwhelmed by any of them. They'd make an excellent 1 hour compilation CD though.
