Is the White Album the Beatles greatest gem?

Yes.  The Beatles(White Album) is creatively, musically & artistically the Beatles greatest gem with it's back to basics approach to rock & roll which defines them during the late 60's without all the pomp & circumstance of SPLHCB.

I voted yes because it is creatively, musically & artistically the Beatles true masterpiece with its back to basics rock & roll approach which defines them during the late 60's which is my favorite era of the band.

The album gives us insight into a more fractured style of song writing that allowed the individual Beatles to bring their "Own" songs to the table! If they had brought out 2 separate Lps it would have been better! I have allways thought #9 as a 45 included with the Lp would have been a great idea and a fast Revolution and slow also on the record!

I'm glad most of you read what I wrote the first time around but the facts are the White Album is creatively, musically & artistically SUPERIOR to any of the Beatles classic rock albums before it.

Yes and no. There are good and bad songs (or sounds) in it. There's enough space for greatness and crap, that its point: the space. I would agree with you if I forget half of the (double) album.
