Hi there, I was hoping some of you active beatles fans could help me with a problem i have? I manage a bar in Harrogate, North Yorks and would really like a Beatles tribute band for St George's day this year. I've looked at a couple of agencies and been quoted HUGE money! Just wondering if anyone on here knew of any bands that might be more attainable?
Thanks for taking time to read this, hope you can help.

Take a look at these ;)

Haha! They look very good! North Yorkshire might be a bit of a trek tho i fear? If not, please let me know! We can offer a reet good night, but fame and fortune may be a bit much for us to guarantee.
Thanks for you reply.

Hi.
You could try this lot.....
http://www.beatlemaniacsonline.com (http://www.beatlemaniacsonline.com)
I saw them years ago in Newcastle and they were excellent.
Haven't seen them around on the local circuit for a while though - from their website it looks like they might be doing more theatre-type shows now.
Worth dropping them an e-mail though since they are based in Teeside (I think) so fairly local to you.

Possibly a bit of a trek for the budget (Isle of Wight to Portsmouth is the 2nd most expensive stretch of water in the world apparently) but thanks for looking and if we are ever stringing a couple of dates off our Island, be good to know what reet good nights are out there on t'mainland.
Best of luck on your search. :)

The Apple Beatle has the best Beatles cover band i've ever heard. Seriously. I dont know if Rick has a webpage, but they are seriously good.
-
I like 1964 the Tribute. Very great band.

I was eager to suggest the Sun Kings but you are in the UK> ;sorry

I'm out of touch on what cover bands are about now. I used to watch the Paperback Beatles a lot in the mid-90s. They were a really tight band.
-
I saw the Bootleg Beatles in Bournemouth a month or so back. I knew they obviously would not be as good as the real thing and thought I would leave disappointed. I was right they were not as good as the real thing but I did not leave disappointed. They were excellent the vocals, instruments and costumes a very good show indeed. Has anyone else seen them? If so what did you think?
-
This probably does not help, but "The Fab Four" are my absolute favorite cover band. They are awesome. I can not express how good they are. I have seen at least 50 Beatles bands. The Fab Four are THE best. I think they are better than "Beatlemania" was in the late '70s/early '80s. I saw Beatlemania and they were good. Fab Four are excellent.

The Beats from Argentina were recognized as the best Beatles tribute band in the world some years ago. I saw them live once and they are really great. But I guess this won't help too much.
The Beats was born in 1987 thanks to its two founders, Patricio and Diego Pérez. In the year 1996, it was recognized as THE BEST BEATLE BAND IN THE WORLD by the Beatles Annual Convention from London and Liverpool. They have been praised by Allan Williams in England (first manager of the Beatles) who said: "They sounded even better than the Beatles when I took them to Hamburg" and Alistair Taylor (Brian Epstein’s personal assistant) who said: "It looks as if the Beatles were born again". Furthermore, they were recognized with important articles in the British newspapers Daily Post and Liverpool Echo.

They seem to be pretty good, but they have an Latino accent.

Ah, sure, losing the latino accent may be hard I guess. I don't notice it since I have latino accent too. :)

My Favourite tribute band seen them 17 times it looks like they have updated their drum logo. It's a shame Neil Harrison who play John has left the band. I have created a forum to them if you are a fan come & join. http://bootlegbeatlesforum.proboards.com/ (http://bootlegbeatlesforum.proboards.com/)

Last year I passed up on the opportunity to see them but I regretted it.This year I made sure i went and fantastic they were too. Glad i saw them before the legend that is Neil Harrison left. But he had played John for 31 years so you can't really blame him. Like he said " After playing John for 31 years it's time too pass over the wig and glasses to someone younger". I'm sure the new John will be good but he will have some hard shoes to fill. I will check out your forum as a priority.

Oh I'm gutted that Neil Harrison left! I didn't know this before. Luckily I got to see tham last December and at the end he came on and did a solo acoustic version of "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)". It was brilliant and made a nice change from him doing "Imagine"!

Oh right? I think I missed them a couple of years running so it was new to me. Will be interesting to see the new John and how he compares.

I enjoy listening to Fab Fours' (http://www.thefabfour.com/) Hark! for a couple of years. I noticed that they will be playing locally early 2013 (presuming the Mayans are wrong), hopefully it will be a good night out.

There was a Bootleg Beatles performance on Youtube from a 1994 Japanese TV special, closest sound to the lads I've ever heard! They did All My Loving, She Loves You, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Day Tripper, Taxman, Hey Jude, Helter Skelter, Get Back and maybe some others.
Paul Cooper had Paul absolutely nailed, and when Neil Harrison sang harmony (particularly on DT and GB), it was as close to sounding like The Beatles as mere mortals could get, IMHO - wondering if anyone has seen it? I'll be sure to put up a link if I ever come across it again.

PBS is currently running "Rain" on Austin City Limits right now. Just saw this on saturday and quite impressed at how good musically they were. You might be able to watch it on their site
-
My son and I caught 'Rain' on broadway in New York City a year or so ago. They are really good.
-
Just saw The Fab Four (being m/c'd by Ed Sullivan) - excellent! I wouldn't hesitate going to see this lot again.
-
I got to see and meet Brad Delp (Boston) a few times when he had his band Beatlejuice! I remember those nights as a lot of fun with really great covers. Their cover of Strawberry Fields Forever I was very impressed with as it was note for note even bringing in tympani drums for the show. Too bad he's gone.
-
I actually found one I really liked, they're called "Dirty Yoko" awesome is a short word, for them. You could come to Peru to listen to them, it's worth a try!
-
Someone reposted the Bootleg Beatles 1994 Japanese TV appearance on Youtube, this is some real good stuff!

I saw Beatlemania in 76 or 77 and on one songs a bunch of balloons came down. For the next song they sat at the edge of the stage to do Yesterday and a screen came down behind them during the intro and popped one of the balloons! Everyone in the audience jumped including The Beatles but they didn't miss a beat!

Has anyone ever heard of the tribute band "Yesterday"? I came back to work from lunch today and a man had left two tickets there for a show next Thursday night. He and his wife can't make it so they decided to see if the library could find someone who'd like them. Fortunately my co-workers are well aware of my addiction. LOL

I've never heard of that particular band, Kelley, but boy, what a stroke of luck! :)

Yeah...I was very confused then excited. LOL

I'm not a big fan of Beatles tribute bands. But after seeing The Analogues on YouTube, I have ordered a couple of tickets for their show coming to my home town. The Analogues play Beatles albums complete. They have done Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour and now they're doing the White Album.

That sounds good Kor , one thing for me always lets Beatle tribute bands down is when it comes to someone trying to sing like John Lennon.
Ive never heard one yet that has the power or tone of John, always a weak link in the band.
I saw a band do The White album here in Oz and the guy looked like Lennon but when it came to the powerful bits of Dear prudence and Warm Gun, the voice was a let down, although the softer parts were ok.

It Won't Be Long was the first song that John Lennon sang which featured his double-tracked lead vocals...
John Lennon is definitely in the forefront of this song with his razor-sharp rhythm guitar and commanding lead vocals. This was the first song that Lennon sang which featured double-tracked lead vocals. This song was the perfect vehicle for this since his vocals were not sung in unison with Paul as many of the previous songs were. This added a deserved fullness to his vocal track which resulted in a very confident and convincing vocal performance. “That’s when we discovered double-tracking,” Lennon later stated. “When I discovered it, I double-tracked everything. I wouldn’t let him have anything single-tracked from then on.” Although this was an exaggeration, listeners can’t help but notice how prominent double-tracking vocals and guitar leads were throughout the next couple of years.

I bet that will be a great show, Cor. I never thought I’d like Beatles tribute bands but when someone gave me tickets I decided to give it a try. I realized that there was something really cool about being among people who were all together for the same reason; we love The Beatles.
