Post by: Andy Smith on November 30, 2007, 01:24:46 AM
Anyone noticed the difference between the ending of george's Isn't It A Pity
and macca's Hey Jude?

You mean the "sameness"? Yeah, I always mistakingly sing "hey jude" after the "na na na"s. Very similar.

George wrote "Pity" after "Hey Jude" right? I believe it was during the Get Back sessions. But the "na na na"s weren't added until it was recorded in 1970. Wonder if he borrowed a little... not intentionally of course.  ;)

The end 'na, na, na's are a deliberate reference to Get Back, the song that was meant to be The Beatles going back to what they did best, instead of signaling the end. The lyrics say it all about them at that time. The words are also true of the way people generally treat each other day every day.

i only noticed this recently & watching the Concert for George, you can see quite clearly when Dhani
sings's the na-na-na-na part, it's exacyly like the end of Hey Jude. making it was a dig at his other
ex members or just McCartney not letting him play what he wanted to play! ;D

I don't know. I think the nananas were intentional. I mean, c'mon, the He's So Fine / My Sweet Lord was mayeb coincidence. But the ending of Isn't It A Pity is exactly as Hey Jude's.  :P
