Vince Taylor had a club in Soho called the Top Ten. When the Jets, with Tony Sheridan, were asked to play in Peter Eckhorn's club, the former Hippodrome, they suggested he name it after Taylor's club.

Great one, pc! I love that Clash song, and play it on the piano a lot. Maybe I can get my band to do it. Rockabilly rules!

vinces' real name was Brian Maurice Holden.........http://vincetaylor.org/
vince eager said that brian once asked him to change his name from vince so that people wouldn't confuse the 2....he was a rough type of guy because eager said it was more of a threat than an askance....
gVfmLsJuJdY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVfmLsJuJdY) when i watch things like come back baby doll i think he over did things in the dance department...he took gene vincents name and stylings...he handled them well too...
i am endlessly looking for taylors vids because tony sheridan was in his band for a short spell....i am hoping to see tony in a vid of taylors but the search goes on....
-

This guy has rubber legs. And he dances like he's being machine gunned when the percussion hits. I bet the girls loved him back then. Big rip off cover guy, but whom am I to point fingers?
-
WTF - who is this guy? When/how/where did he get famous enough to get big video money in 1960? Was he a chart topper?
-
he was very big alex...he ended up going to france tho...like johnny halladay...the sad facts are that the beatles crushed the competition in england so some moved to other countries...search youtube for vince..he was there when it all was going on...he inspires... ;D
-
as for chart topping not here or in the uk but france loved him...look at this french vid...http://www.wat.tv/video/cadillac-kjij_kjg6_.html

Don't worry, pc (Mummy's only looking for a hand in the snow).
Wasn't that a line from the woodchipper scene in "Fargo"?
That guy Dickie Pride ... looks like he gave Joe Cocker a pointer or two about stage presence ...
Oh, and that sax solo, man was even one note in tune, it sounded like a solo for a different song!
But thanks, pc,I actually had not heard of him! I just did a youtube and wiki search on Dickie Pride. For those who, like me, were not in the know ...

1. Known as the "Sheik of Shake".
2.Obligatory Beatles connection - first signed by Larry Parnes, who signed The (Silver) Beetles to their first foreign tour - Scotland, backing up Johnny Gentle. (Wow!). Apparently shafted by Parnes, and universally thought to never get the break his talent deserved.
3. He died in 1969 of a drug overdose, after a lobotomy and heroin addiction.
