erm..yes..righhht./ it's proberly because it say's 'imagine no heaven' in it, smallminded twats often do things like that, because they asume by that one line its anti-religious, when they don't actually listen to properly and appriciate the full meaning of the song.

Lennon's Imagine dropped by school

A CHURCH of England school decided to drop John Lennon's classic song, Imagine, from a concert because it was not felt to be "an appropriate song to perform publicly", it emerged yesterday.

The lyrics of the late Beatle's song - known throughout the world - contain the words " and no religion too".

Youngsters at St Leonard's Primary School in Exeter, Devon, were planning to perform Imagine at their recent concert - but it was replaced by another song after a teacher expressed his concern.

Headteacher Geoff Williams said yesterday: "We have not banned the song Imagine.

"We chose not to perform it at our public concert, but to perform instead another song we had practised which we felt better reflected the school theme of Songs for A Green Earth.

"We are a Church school and we believe that God is the foundation of all that we do.

"As such, we did not feel that Imagine was an appropriate song that we could perform publicly," Mr Williams said.

Isn't Imagine a little anti-religious, though??

Wouldn't it be a little odd for a bunch of schoolchildren in church to be singing the lines, "imagine there's no heaven" and "no religion too" etc etc? As cute as it would be to see a bunch of kids singing that song, maybe it's a good thing that people choose NOT to ignore that aspect of it... Maybe John Lennon himself would appreciate that?

its more anti-conformity, its asking to think of a world without the things we hold in high regard (e.g. religion, materialism).

yea, maybe a church group shouldnt sing imagine for that but still, i'd rather have them pull it because it may not appreaciate but still enjoy lennon for who he was and what the message of the song was. it could be worst though, they could choose not to play "my sweet lord" by george because it deals with a different religion. then you can look at them as simple-minded fools
