Favorite Wings album
« on: May 21, 2007, 08:26:24 PM »

Before I go on I just want to make clear that this is Wings album poll. So I did not include Ram or McCartney as they were before Wings formed so I expect not to see "Ram is my fav but its not here". Also this is a Wings poll so no snide "Lennon's Plastic Ono Band is better than All Wings albums". One more thing, I didn't include Wings Over America because it is not a studio album.

Anyways this was a tough call for me as I really like all the albums. But if I had to choose one I would pick 'At The Speed Of Sound' because I really like the feel of that album. I just think the overrall feel of the album is upbeat and all members of Wings get to shine on the Album.

excluding Wings over America, it would have to be Venus and Mars for me followed by Speed of Sound and London Town

Band on The Run ... I love Mrs Vandebilt and Mamunia ... the rest of the tracks are great too! The bass and -in some songs- the drums are awesome ...

Mine too Raxo. As a matter of fact I love all the songs on Wild Life. Its definately a bit of a dark album. But 'Tomorrow' is one of the most positive songs I've ever heard and just love it. I read somewhere that 'Tomorrow' was Linda's favorite song.

Well, the rest of the album, as you've said, Wordno, is dark ... to me, at least ...it's not one of my favourite works -probably, along with London Town is the one at the botton of my list- but I still enjoy it ...

Wild Life and Dear Friend should be shorter ... surely Bip Bop too ... I Am Your Singer sounds sooo old-fashioned! ...

The funniest thing is that I've been listening to it this morning!!! ... and Some People Never Know and Tomorrow about 5 times each!!!  ;D

I don't really know why I think of Wild Life as a dark album. To me it just is. It just doesn't have the positive feel that his other albums had. I really like Wild Life for that reason, to me it stands out compared to his other Wings Album. I think Wild Life the song is fine as is. When I first heard it I never thought that it was too long. There are much longer songs than Wild Life like Achilles last stand by Zeppelin. That song is a dark song but it is 10 minutes long! I'm not comparing the two songs, but what I'm saying is that Achilles last stand just works at being 10 minutes long and I believe Wild Life works at 6 minutes and 30 seconds long in the same way. I'd also love to hear Wild Life on Paul's next tour but the majority of the crowd won't know what it is and it would turn into a dead crowd.

What about McCartney II? ... it was a success and topped some charts and lots of fans don't like it ... so do they like Paul? (I love McCartney II)

My fav Wings album has to be Venus & Mars.
It's an amzing album & the muscianship is excellant on it.
It goes in so many different directions, Rock , pop, love song, new orleans,
to fred astaire-esque ;D. I just love the way the album moves along track after
track. I think he should start his next tour with Rock Show (but of course new fans
may not be aware of it :-/).
It was the first Wings album i own on cd (obviously a bit toooo young for vinyl! ;D)
(even though i'm starting now to collect my fav albums on vinyl,  beatles & solo)

Band On The Run, Red Rose Speedway & London Town would follow..
It's interesting to see how many people like Wild Life ( i think it could have
been a strong album, but it was too rushed & some of the tunes were too long as Raxo said)
 :)

Mine is Band on the Run. In my mind there's not a bad song on the album.

I was going to vote for Band On The Run, kind of automatically really. But in the end I went for Venus And Mars. This might sound funny - I like every song on Band On The Run, but I don't like every song on Venus And Mars. But I do think that some of the songs on Venus are better than those on BOTR. IMHO of course!

Band On The Run. It has a certain mood to it, London Town second, that has another mood to it.

I love the production on Band On The Run & Paul's drumming is ace on it!
I still find it an amzing record as it was a struggle to make, with only Denny Laine,
Linda & Paul. no other Wings members which almost makes it a solo album!

Well... I have 4 of this 7 albums... And Red Rose Speedway is my favourite. Is just a great album, all tracks (all except the Loup... sorry...) are fantastic.
