Please help with these trivia questions
« on: October 03, 2011, 12:11:36 AM »

I have a few questions that I came up with (I'm sure others have also).

I would greatly appreciate your help.

1.  Name all the girls/women in their songs
2.  Name all the guys in their songs

Now here's the hard one.

3.  Name any song (theirs or other groups) that refer to the Beatles as a band or individually.

Here's a new one I came up with today.

4.  List any word in their songs never heard in any other song.

Even if you know only part of one of these please post and we'll make a list.  I don't expect anyone to know the answers off the top of their head.

TIA

For the first two questions do you want people to name the actual boy and girls in the song (for example Rita from Lovely Rita and Rocky Raccoon from Rocky Raccoon) or do you want people to name the person who inspired the song being wrote?I'm pretty sure you meant people like Rita so that's what I'm going to say.I'll also add names from cover songs.

1: Joan,Rose,Valerie,Pam,Prudence,Molly,Martha,Magil/Nancy,Julia,Sadie,Lizzy,Maggie Mae,Loretta,Mary,Sally,Madonna,Anna,Eleanor,Michelle,Lucy,Mrs.K (Mrs.Kite),Vera,Rita,Doris Day

2: Desmond,Maxwell,Bungalow Bill,John,Rocky Raccoon,Daniel,Chuck,Dave,Jojo,Jude,Robert,Lear,Mr.Kite,Sgt.Pepper,Pablo Fanque,BB King,Matt Busby,Mr.Barkley,Mr.Wilson,Mr.Heath

3: God by John (I don't believe in Beatles),All Those Years Ago by George (about John),When We Was Fab by George (about what it was like during the days of being a Beatle),How Do You Sleep by John (about Paul),Dear Friend by Paul (about John),Never Without You by Ringo (about George) - I know there's a bunch more by other people and bands but I can't think about any right now

4: Is this for words that were only in one Beatle song but not in any other Beatle song?If so then tomorrow I will fill this in.This was fun :)

Any word that was in a Beatle song but never found in a song by any other group.  I think this will be a long list.

'What Will We Be Singing In The Eighties' mentions Sgt. Pepper standing high on a hill, with George, John, Ringo and Paul

Also, ELO's 'Shangri-La' from A New World Record, says 'faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude'...

Jeff Lynne's idolisation of The Beatles is well known:

All appear in dozens of other songs. Songtitles alone:

http://allmusic.com/search/song/plasticine
http://allmusic.com/search/song/submarine

I think he means a word not used in any other Beatles songs. Otherwise the exercise is pointless.

Joost is right, but it's truly pointless. How can you know every song ever recorded?

That's weird. For me it just says  "4.  List any word in their songs never heard in any other song."

Maybe it was edited at some time.

1. Mary Jane
2. "Dylan's Mr Jones", Peter Brown, Dennis O'Bell
3. There's a Clash song that mentions "phoney Beatlemania", there's a whole verse of American Pie about them, and the Monkees song "Randy Scouse Git" also mentions the "Kings of EMI" or something like that. There's a song called "I Feel Like Buddy Holly" that mentions Paul. And there's a Scissor Sisters song called "McCartney".
4. There are some quite unusual words in Beatles songs - semolina, pilchard, piggies, savoy, truffle, montelimar, Octopus's - but I don't know if you could ever prove that they haven't appeared in any other song written before or since.

The intro of "I Feel Fine" is all through this and John, Paul and George are mentioned by name at 1:48:
Don't Call Us We'll Call You- Sugarloaf- 1975

In spite of being long and rather depressing this one gets right to the point with the Beatles reference:
Bad Company - Shooting Star
