"Theory of Everything" - very touching and remarkable story. Brilliant acting by all. But i thought it gets more praise than it possibly should? It was goid, but not "wow"

I agree with you. Good but not earth moving. I guess Redmayne's performance is a standout, although I think it may have been played a bit too "cutesy" in the opening act. Still, towards the end he seems to have nailed it.

'Shaun the Sheep'.

Loads of sheep, a devious duck, a runaway caravan, the naughty pigs (essential for any truly great Shaun the Sheep episode), and a happy ending.

I'd recommend it to anyone.

'The Boxtrolls' (2014)

Been looking over the Best Animated Feature Oscar™ nominees lately, and this one is a real doozie. Kind of a Dickens meets Tim Burton kind of thing. Some hilarious moments and stunningly clever visuals. Very impressive for a stop-motion piece with minimal CGI.

Ben Kingsley's voicing of the story's heavy, by the way, is fiendishly delicious. Alone worth the price of admission.

I also really enjoyed 'Big Hero 6' and I have a couple more to catch, but so far this one fills my envelope.

I just read the book of this by Joe Hill, Stephen King's son. It's actually a pretty good book if you're into the horror genre.

I'll watch a horror movie before reading a horror novel.  I'm more into sci-fi and fantasy.

I read a lot of reviews saying the Horns book was way better than the movie.

Still Alice. Very depressing, but a beautiful job by Julianne Moore. The ending was horrible -- a total letdown -- as was the ending of the book. This was the one time I'd actually hoped the movie would have a different ending than the book.

That book is sitting on the shelf upstairs. My daughter must have bought it. I don't think I can read it; it will probably hit too close to home.

It was very good, and an easy read. I can understand how if one has personally encountered Alzheimer's in a family or friend it would be difficult. I probably would have had a hard time had I had any experience with it. I know I've never been able to make it through anything dealing with parental alcoholism.

My mother had Alzheimer's, or something like it. Oddly enough I loved reading Nicholas Spark's The Notebook. He captured some of the finer aspects of the situation that most people wouldn't think about. For some reason that helped me right after she died. The movie was a different thing all together. Blech!

Moore deserved her Oscar™ - a great performance. Sad story, but a fine film.

Saw Al Pacino in Danny Collins on a long flight. It's of interest to Beatle fans as it takes its premise from a real occurrence. Folk singer Steve Tilotsons discovery that John Lennon wrote to him decades before. Al plays a still popular, but trading off past glories, aged rock star. After discovering the letter from Lennon he seeks to make up for decades of forgetting his muse and shallow living. It's a bit cliched although has some nice understated moments. The ending is a bit abrupt but done nicely. The bonus is the soundtrack is mostly Lennon solo material.

Just got back from The Visit. Ugh, what a waste of good money. I can't really be more specific without giving away the plot twist.

Watched Mad Max Fury Road on the plane out to Seattle.  Heaping pile of crap.

Watched Tomorrowland on the way back from Seattle.  Heaping pile of crap.

I just read the Wikipedia entry about it. They gave away the ending! I am usually a big sissy when it comes to horror movies but since I liked The Hand That Rocks the Cradle I thought I might like this. Now I'm thinking twice!
