Beatles Day Events
« on: March 19, 2009, 09:36:30 PM »

Friday 10th July 2009, which has now been rechristened as Beatles Day, is 24 hours when people will show their love for the Fab Four and raise money for local and national charities through the newly formed Beatles Day Foundation.

Beatles Day is intended to be a celebration of Liverpool; its humour, the Beatles and their legacy. A day on which people will buy and wear mop-tops for charity in much the same way as they wear red noses for Comic Relief!

As well as raising money, the main focus of Beatles Day is FUN. The Beatles Day Foundation propose to turn Liverpool into a sort of Beatles Themed 'Disneyland' during the day, with the spectacular climax being The Beatles Day Concert at the Summer Pops, Liverpool Echo Arena, hosted by Ricky Tomlinson in the evening.

The Beatles Day Foundation have arranged discount travel arrangements into the city through public transport operators for those participating in Beatles Day to ensure as large an attendance as possible.

Proposals for this year's events include:

Beatles on the Ferry - Ferry across the Mersey with the Beatles.

Beatles Bus - A double decker bus with a Beatles band playing live on top which will tour round and play at the city's schools from 7th
