So I found this at an antique store today. One of Vee-Jay's repackaging of "Introducing the Beatles"

That's a nice addition, Maccafan!

Not very often these days I buy Beatles vinyl, but I found this on eBay and put in a fairly low bid for what is a very rare item. I was convinced I would be outbid and forgot all about it, only to get an e-mail to say I had won it for £2.20!!
There were hundreds of thousands of copies of the She Loves You single made in 1963, but almost all were made by EMI. Only rarely do they turn up having been pressed by Decca and not by EMI. You can tell it is a Decca pressing because of the wide lip round the edge of the push-out centre.
I assume they were made just before IWTHYH was released and EMI had its hands full pressing that new single, so they got Decca to press a small run of SLY just to fulfil the outstanding orders that they had.
Anyway, here's the new addition to my collection - a Decca pressing of She Loves You. I paid £2.20 and I think it is worth ten-times that, if not more!

Nice find, Peter.  Congratulations!

I'll have to post a picture of my She Loves You 45 on Swan Records.

Yeah, you should do that.
I used to only collect UK vinyl but years ago I bought a whole collection of US singles and albums - not sure if I have She Loves You on Swan though. I'll have to have a look through and see.

It was Paul's musical count-in.

Interesting thought, HG. It sounds like a false start, but could be a count-in. They didn't always use the standard count-in. Best example is John's "Sugar plum fairy" from "Strawberry Fields Forever". Btw, John must have borrowed from the Suzuki violin technique of teaching young children how to bow the violin by teaching them a nonsense phrase, i.e., "Mississippi hot dog", not just to set the tempo, but establish a rhythm.

It's also interesting that in Paul's lower harmony in the "You don't look different ..." parts you can tell it's him, but it's like he is trying to sing like John!!

Cool observation, Peterbell. Even among some of us older, first-generation Beatles fans, there is still controversy over who sang what on "I'll Follow The Sun". Has that ever been properly documented?

Geez, I have so many versions of the Beatles on vinyl, cassette, and CD, I wouldn't know where to begin in making a list. I even used to have many albums on 8-track (which subsequently met their fate in a deliberately set bonfire).

I really should invest in the necessary hardware and software to transfer some vinyls to disk. There are some vinyl albums I have that are in near pristine state and I hesitate to play them.

I must say that Capitol Records (which I hate with a passion) did an excellent job of remastering their Beatles catalog onto CD, in both mono and stereo. I can only hope there will be a Volume 3 with "The Beatles Story", "Hollywood Bowl", etc.

Did I mention that I kinda like the Beatles?

I just wondered if any has the Let It Be Naked on vinyl.

If so, was it brickwalled like the CD?

picked up Let it Be Naked vinyl. not nearly as harsh sounding as the CD in a couple of weeks I can pull the trigger on the Yellow Submarine Songtrack (1999)

I have now consigned the remastered CD's to the used bin at my local record store, keeping only my Mono box.

All my old Capitol albums, Blue Box and Remastered box have been cleaned using the Spin Clean Record Washer MKII. Thanks to the remastered box for reigniting my passion for listening to music rather than consuming it.
