cat stevens
« on: March 13, 2005, 11:43:28 PM »

at friday night on a local telveision station they had a Cat Stevens Concert on, which was suppsoedly "hidden" until now.

I was wondering how you guys felt about Cat Stevens(Islam as he is now called). I know he had the whole deportaiton thing and gave financial aid to certain terorist groups, but how do you feel about his music? I think he's talented and my favorite songs by him are "father and son" and "peace train"

I love his music.

"Wild World" is my favorite, "Morning Has Broken" is great too.

Cat Stevens was " once " a great artist with classics like Wild World which is one my personal favorites & Peace Train but since he became a Muslim & changed his name to Yusef Islam he's become about as wacko as Michael Jackson except not as freaky.

Ignorant posts aside, he was on quite a roll in the 70's and I love most of his output during that era.  He had a unique voice and message and most of his songs are pretty timeless to me.

Although I am as appalled as anyone by his recent pronouncements, he has not actually been convicted of anything and continually denies any terrorist connections.

I think Cat Stevens was the "Best" folk singer ever to come out of the "UK"! His catalouge of music is quite impressive! The voice gave him an unique sound throughout his career! (Ps Donovan was a close second)

Great songs, but I've never liked his voice.

it's ironic that a man who is believed to be a promoter of terrorism won the "man of peace" award.
