It was just a prop.  According Stephen Goldblatt who photographed The Beatles' Mad Day Out:  "They had recently recorded “Hey Jude” and so Paul is playing “Hey Jude,” and they’re all singing, and the parrot is just a prop that Paul’s girlfriend brought along. She was the prop girl. It was taken in the Mercury Theatre in Notting Hill."
So it's safe to say it didn't get the union wage!

Oh, nothing bad! The short version is that I didn't have time to watch the video that Barry posted so I was confused about which picture you were referring to. There's more to the story but it makes me sound like a dingbat. LOL

I figured it was a monkey. A dog taking a dump isn't really that intriguing.

You funny! ;)

That reminds me of that one scene in Good Fellas. I mean funny like I'm a clown? I amuse you?  ;D

I agree; they've always made me kind of uneasy. I wonder if anyone really likes them or if they are just being polite when they laugh at them?

Yeah, you never know what's going on behind the mask!
My cousin jean was a professional clown for years and I joke with her sometimes how scary she is without the makeup! Lol! She has a good sense of humor!

Speaking of Martha ;D, do you have any idea what the orchestra's doing out in the square?

Paul is rehearsing with The Black Dykes Mill Band, who recorded a song he wrote called Thingumybob:

http://youtu.be/CKSyUY3HxUA

What happened later though is actually the most interesting part of the story.

Paul McCartney records Thingumybob by Black Dyke Mills Band

"The newly published account by Gordon Mitchell whose family provided the hospitality to Paul McCartney and friends on that glorious summer evening now forty years ago, is still warmly remembered by both hosts and visitors. The events were reported prominently in the New Musical Express of July 6th and August 10th, 1968 and in subsequently published works by Derek Taylor, Alan Smith and Tony Bramwell." More Here

How cool is that??

Thanks Kelly,
I had never heard the song, just read about it.

Hmmm, I wonder if any of our forum members can tell me which part Paul is playing?
