Pauls Inspiration
« on: May 18, 2011, 02:45:48 PM »

What inspired Paul to  write   some of his songs....?

I think way back,   'Till  there Was You' ... was a favourite of his
and ... cant help thinking that song inspired  ......  And I Love Her  ....
am I wrong. ?

I have a suspicion  that   this song inspired Paul too....

go here
Clive Dunn - Grandad [totp2]

Its  really, quite a wonderful song.. a novelty song that
made it  to top of the pops.
cant thinking that   it went a long way to
inpire Paul  to  write.............

Motor Cars, Handle Bars
Bicycles for Two
Broken Hearted Jubilee
Parachutes, Army Boots
Sleeping Bags for Two
Sentimental Jamboree

But Paul didn't write Till There Was You... It was written by Meredith Willson for his 1957 musical play The Music Man. Maybe I just got the question wrong  ha2ha can you explain what you meant?  :)

Ah! That makes more sense  ;D. I've read that Jane Asher was the inspiration for that song but I'm not sure.

Correct. She was certainly his muse in the early days. She was the inspiration for I'm Looking Through You as well.

Jane Asher's inspiration to Paul to write “I’m Looking Through You”. When he realized that her commitment to the relationship was not what it should have been. “I’m looking through you…and you’re NOT THERE!”

Paul McCartney met British actress Jane Asher, at the Royal Albert Hall when a photographer asked the band to pose with her. She conducted a BBC interview with the band, and McCartney and she later started dating. McCartney wrote several songs at the Asher’s house, including the #1 single “Yesterday.” Jane Asher ... served as the inspiration of several songs, including “And I Love Her,” “You Won’t See Me,” and “I’m Looking Through You.”
