Ringo's 1964 Ed Sullivan Show Drumhead

Valencia, CA-  On November 7, 2015, the drumhead from the Beatles’ Ed Sullivan debut was sold at Julien’s auction in Beverly Hills, CA, for $2.125 million. It was purchased by IndianapolisColts owner, Jim Irsay, to be added to his collection of rare guitars and collectibles in Indianapolis, Indiana. This Remo Drumhead with the Beatles’ logo has now become the most expensive drumhead in the world! It is worth so much that Remo Belli said, “We couldn’t even afford to buy our drumhead back!”

Here's my replica 20 inch Remo drumhead hand-painted by a graphics artist in Georgia, just as the original was created...

Wow, that looks fantastic, Barry! Really true to the font. That artist in Georgia certainly knows his/her stuff.

He did a beautiful job recreating that drumhead, Kathleen.  He's a drummer in a Beatles tribute band and a big fan of Ringo.  He found a vintage Remo drumhead with its original correct decal.  He sent me the Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl hoop and hardware to properly display his creation.

Here's a link to a fine monograph on Ringo's Beatles drumheads on Russ Lease's Beatles Suits website:  The Saga of Seven Skins
