Hard Days Night cover
« on: August 04, 2009, 12:14:50 AM »

Why do you think Capitol in the US decided to change the album cover for the US issue of the Hard Days Night album?
The UK cover is way better than the US one (my opinion, of course).
Why do away with a great sleeve design and replace it with something decidedly average?

It's a soundtrack album, so the cover looks more like a movie poster. Same with Help!

Ive got an original UK cinema poster framed and theres a few different pics on it. Its just like the UK album but a lot bigger. Wilfred Bramble is on it too. Bought it for £1 in a charity shop about 10 years ago so framed it to keep it protected. Looks very nice on the wall and everyone that sees it wants it. Dont know why theres a different cover in the US though.

The American version was originally released on United Artists so they obviously didn't have rights to use the same cover, and created their own. Also the reason why only the songs from the film appear on the album.

Thanks BlueMeanie.
That would explain it - United Artists didn't have the right to use the cover that EMI had designed for their UK version of the album.
Cheers
