Okay, this one's for Kevin who I know has heard it before.

The Captain And Tennille had a big hit with Muskrat Love in 1976...

Written and recorded as Muskrat Candlelight by Willis Alan Ramsey in 1972...

...America covered the song in 1973...

Those are some great vocal harmonies right there!

Thanks Barry you know I'm a fan of America and they're great harmonies
Produced by George Martin no less :)
Muscat is the only song the trio recorded that they didn't write I think.

Right, Kev.  I knew you'd get a kick out of hearing that song again.   The Captain And Tennille's cover sort of eclipsed America's version in music history.  It's a nice song that America took and added their magnificent vocal harmonies to.  I'm glad they did.

I listened to their album Hatrick the other day, my favourite by them. icon_good

Was driving to spring break with a couple of my buddies during college.  One of them handed me a cassette tape and I tossed it in and America's Muskrat Love started playing.  That tape got immediately tossed out the window.  ha2ha

Todd, I hope that cassette didn't have this version of Lonely People on it.

Hit it!

I've selected this for in my life, this little medley was their nod to abbey road, they were huge beatle fans.......America need no introduction of course.

Hope you enjoy Kelley  icon_good

Came across this one the other day and thought of Nimrod.  They are from Youngstown Ohio which is pretty close to me and they have some prog elements throughout the album.  This particular song reminds me of a cross between the Moody Blues and some early Floyd.  Not sure if your familiar with them, but I present - Glass Harp

Two songs for tkitna. They're from one of the earliest rock groups from Argentina: Almendra, a very creative band including slight psychedelic elements. These were their first two singles, released in 1968:

Wow George, great stuff.  Instantly reminded me of early 70's McCartney.  I'm going to seek out more of them.

I find some similarities with Love's Forever Changes, but maybe the band was not aware of that album in 1968. The Beatles were an inspiration for them, for sure.

Thanks Todd,  really appreciate it, great track which I've never heard before.

The feel of the song and the flute put me in mind of  this, so  I  will post one for you by  Camel

The Camel song is nice Kevin.  I'm familiar with the band but not their body of work.  Good stuff.

Here's one for Hombre I came across.  My wife actually had it on her playlist and I dug it.  This came out in 2010 I believe.
