Forgot to say that I did not met, per se, but had a long telephone conversation with Colin Hay (Men at Work), back in the early 1990’s.

My friend walked into Dan Carter (who was a cricket player I think, and he also promoted men's underwear)

Just remembered having New Kids on the Block in my studio for a few minutes, circa 1989, during their Hangin' Tough days. Nice boys, as I remember them.

I've met and shook hands with two old (the third and the fourth) incarnations of Doctor Who!

Both were very charming and rather tall.

Kelley, a neighbor was the producer of Touch Me Not which was filmed in 1974.  I told him I always admired her as an actress and he invited me to a post-production party he held at his home.  Typical of me, all I was able to say when he introduced me to her was "You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."  She said "Well, thank you!" and gave me a nice big smile.

Aside from my good fortune in being able to do phone interviews with a number of great musicians as part of my job with a newspaper - I've mentioned a few before - I've had a few in-the-flesh brushes with fame through the years...

Timothy Leary
Bill Graham
XTC (all band members)
David Byrne

In each case a few words were exchanged and a modicum of weirdness characterized the moment.

There have probably been more, but the data bank cranks slowly. That damn dentist.

I figured there was a cute story attached to that meeting. I've only met the singer Mac Davis. I'm not sure if anyone even remembers him now but he was pretty popular back in 1974 when I met him at the San Francisco International Airport. More accurately, my mom met him when she asked for his autograph for me. I peeked out from behind my dad and Mac winked at me. Then we all flew to Buffalo where we saw him again. LOL

I'm sorry. Well, I was in Hillsboro NH and my mom and her sister had a catering company. She called me during the week and said " You better get down here Saturday afternoon and bring your truck. Frank Zappa is playing in Salem (MA) at the old Coast Guard station and I need you to help with the catering because we've contracted to feed the band and crew!" I said' Awesome! I'll be there. And so I went down there and after the guy's had been fed in walks Frank. Very nice and unassuming. he said hello and signed a few autographs (initials) for me and chatted a bit. They went onstage and I got to watch the show from behind the stage. After a 1/2 hour or so a rain shower came through and I was volunteered to help putting plastic tarps over the electronics and amps. It only rained for a little while and we took off the tarps and finished the show. Fun night. However... the booking agent stiffed my mom and never paid us. Typical!
