My fave part of "Sometime In New York City"  was always the live album.

The live version of "Baby Please Don't Go" on that disc (played with Frank Zappa, I think) is better than the studio take on The Lennon Anthology. That, and "New York City" are the only keepers for me.  8)

I've always thought STINYC was very strong musically. It's definately got some grunt. Unfortunately when I first heard it I'd already so much about it being rubbish due to the lyrics that I was almost convinced into dismissing it.
In retrospect I now think that that criticism is a bit harsh. Lennon seriously misjudged his audience at the time, but I would rather listen to this now than the wishy washy Mind Games..

Yeah, I like the noisy, in-your-face approach, too. But you get lyrics like this:

If we could make chains with the morning dew
The world would be like Galway Bay
Let's walk over rainbows like leprechauns
The world would be one big Blarney stone

We can probably blame Yoko and substance abuse for those lyrics. Try your local library or a used CD shop. Maybe even a yard sale.  ;D

Don't forget the imaginative over-use of "gotta" in "John Sinclair"!  Something like fifteen "gottas" in 15 seconds, I think  :)

 ;D

I forgot about that one:

It ain't fair, John Sinclair
In the stir for breathing air
Won't you care for John Sinclair?
In the stir for breathing air
Let him be, set him free
Let him be like you and me

They gave him ten for two
What else can the judges do?
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta set him free

If he'd been a soldier man
Shooting gooks in Vietnam
If he was the CIA
Selling dope and making hay
He'd be free, they'd let him be
Breathing air, like you and me

They gave him ten for two
What else can the judges do?
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta set him free

They gave him ten for two
They got Ali Otis too.
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta set him free

Was he jailed for what he done?
Or representing everyone
Free John now, if we can
From the clutches of the man
Let him be, lift the lid
Bring him to his wife and kids

They gave him ten for two
What else can the bastards do?
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
gotta, gotta, gotta set him free

Erm... I count 60 "gottas."  (afraid4)

I'd have to say "Rock and Roll" just because they are not his songs, and they seemed like less-than-stellar performances.

I agree. In my opinion the worst album is "Rock-n-roll"

It perhaps proves that Paul's comparatively restrained 49 "wos" (or should that be "whoahs"?) in "My Love" isn't the lazy tripe people take it for.  ;D

Sometime in New York City is terrible, though i like Sunday bloody Sunday.
Walls and Bridges is great,it kinda sums up Lennon's life at the time,so for that i like it.
Mind Games,i think he was clutching at straws there, but again a great album.
Imagine,great album,flows really well.
Plastic Ono Band.....is amazing, again musch of this album sumsup his life at the time.
Double Fantasy.....great,except the yoko tracks
