Artists you've discovered through the Beatles

Sometimes I wonder if the Beatles are a "gateway" group in that listeners discover other artists through the Beatles' music, influences, and friendships.  This is probably more true for younger Beatles fans who weren't alive during the 60's and 70's.  

Have the Beatles ever encouraged you to listen to other musicians, and if so, whom?  Musical associations from their solo years can count too. :)

I discovered Cilla Black and Mary Hopkin through my father and he - through the Beatles. So it boils down to the Beatles.
