It's about time we have all this stuff for us struggeling fans on finding
it! One for my birthday list no doubt!
and yes, that question of, 'Do you think Macca needs the money after what
he's been through?', does enter my mind!  :P ;D

I guess it's EMI who needs to capitalize Paul's catalogue releasing this product. But it's fantastic! But we have to wait until November 12th... It seems like a long long time.
I really want to know... There are all videos recorded at the time or there are some made especially for this collection, like in the Lennon Legend DVD?  ::)

Hey people let's make a list of videos not included on the set. This is what I know:
-THE WORLD TONIGHT
-YOUNG BOY
-JENNY WREN
-YOUR LOVING FLAME
-FROM A LOVER TO A FRIEND
-FREEDOM
-LONELY ROAD
-WE ALL STAND TOGETHER
-DANCE TONIGHT

Is there something more missed? I really don't know  ;)

There you go. I bet the box is not complete. And after we bought it, there will most probably a 'special edition box' with all the stuff that is left off this box, so we have to buy it again to really get everything.

I admit, I'm getting fed up with this kind of marketing tricks.

I don't know. An special edition for a DVD? I've never seen that. I mean, a DVD is quite expensive, especially a 3-DVD Box set. It's not a 1-CD album. But, who knows....

Does he have commentary on it? I hope so, he hardly ever talke about his days in Wings. Its always "When we made Sgt Pepper...." or "Like with John we..." etc.
Title: Re: The McCartney Years

yeah all he says is "That group was the best lineup of Wings and when we toured the states, we were ready" etc

I think he could have made a bit more background in the Wingspan
documentry. maybe the times weren't as exciting for him in Wings as in
the Beatles. But of course, Wings were always brilliant live! :)

I just got it for Christmas, and it's great, I can't stop watching it! And like you guys were saying, that Coming Up video is great and just hilarious!

I've never seen any of the stuff on here before, and I've been waiting forever to get it for xmas. I like the live stuff of course, and the Creating Chaos at Abbey Road thing is pretty entertaining. When he was in the middle of Things We Said Today, he messed up on the words, and just stopped and did it again. Same with Blackbird.  ;D

I hadn't seen most of the videos on the DVD, so I was really excited to finally have them all together and in such great quality. A couple of the Macca songs that I had previously dismissed as mediocre I actually got interested in after seeing the videos for them. Like Pretty Little Head.. I never, ever thought I would like this song, but after seeing the video and hearing Paul's commentary, I don't know, something clicked, and now it's on my playlist. And normally I think video's take away from songs.

Highlights for me were the 1976 Wings show and Paul's commentary on the London Town video (hilarious!).

I recieved 'The Mccartney Years' for christmas, which was a surprise and something that was totally new to my ears. Ignoring the big hits - i.e. Jet, Say Say Say, Band on The Run etc (which are great) I found myself really getting into some material that I've never bothered exploring.  A song such as Heart of The Country is fantastic. His voice is spot on, and the whole mood and sound of the song sounds like it could be found on The White Album. MTV Unplugged is also amazing ... And I Love Her blows me away.

The worst of all is you watch the music videos in chronological order, because you notice how the "Flaming Pie" era was almost completely forgotten, and the "Driving Rain" also forgotten in its entirety. "Young Boy", "The World Tonight", "From A Lover To A Friend", "Your Loving Flame", "Driving Rain", "Jenny Wren", "We All Stand Together", "Tropic Island Hum"... where are all those videos??  ::)

Just picked up "The McCartney Years" DVD yesterday and I'm enjoying it.  I'm going to echo the disappointments others have mentioned:  the edited "Rockshow", no "Young Boy" video, etc.  :(  But I really enjoyed seeing the Wings material; that was a lot of fun!  Plus I got a good laugh out of seeing the dated clothes and hairstyles.   :P ;D  Thanks, Macca!

The bad thing is that the first DVD is defective (two videos will not play properly...ugggh), so I'm going to have to exchange my set soon...sigh.
