Beatles "For Jukeboxes Only!" singles
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:58:00 AM »

I always think about those Beatles singles that never existed and could have been great hits. Well, I've found this rare collection of vinyl singles made for jukeboxes in the 1990's, where we can find many alternate singles:

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds / When I'm 64
Magical Mystery Tour / The Fool On The Hill
While My Guitar Gently Weeps / Blackbird
Here Comes The Sun / Octopus's Garden

I was almost afraid to look at that list because learning all the singles has been a challenge for me. When I finally get it then it will be safe to ponder these combinations. ;)

Here Comes The Sun would have made a great "A" side.

Don't know about the coupling of two other George songs though - It's All Too Much and It's Only A Northern Song - not exactly "hit" record material (even though I do LOVE It's All Too Much).

Across The Universe and Two Of Us is another great single-that-never-was.

That single was also released in several other countries as well (Australia, France, Spain, Brazil, Japan, etc.).

About Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da / Julia, it was actually released as a single in US in 1976:

Yes, that's correct. Excuse me my short sighted view.

I don't think so. I just meant that this was not a new designed single, it was released before in 1976.

The biggest mystery to me is why "Drive My Car" never was chosen as a single. The song had "HIT" stamped all over it, and I'll bet it's the most played Beatles album track on radio.
