Ringo a superhero!
« on: January 28, 2005, 09:36:43 AM »

From todays Times:
"Faster than a speeding snare drum roll, more powerful than a yellow submarine....it's Ringo Starr, superhero.
The former beatle, 64, is to be turned into an animated musical superhero by the comic-book mogul Stan Lee.....
......"Ringo is beloved worldwide for his commitment to people (?) and his singular wit"...........
....Starr's alter ego is described as an "evil-battling, Earth saving -0though reluctant-superhero with a great sense of rhythm. ...starr will voice...."

I guess even Ringo's got to pay the rent

I think Ringo has lost it completely with this cartoon series he wants to do of himself being a superhero especially approaching 65.  I would like to know if Ringo is going to be portraying himself now in this cartoon or 40 years ago in the Beatles.

RINGO STARR is to play a super-powered animated version of himself in a new cartoon series.

The feature will transform the former Beatles drummer into an "evil-battling, earth-saving (though reluctant) superhero with a great sense of rhythm", according to Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment company.

The comic book creator has joined forces with Starr to create the superhero project for television and DVD.

"I'm so excited to become a reluctant superhero," said Starr.. "How great to hang out with Stan and laugh, laugh, laugh, as we're in the first stages of creating this soon-to-be masterpiece.

"Adding music to this adventure is something I am also looking forward to."

Lee, the mastermind behind comic book characters Spiderman, the X-Men and the Hulk, said he would base the superhero on Starr's famed persona.

"Ringo is beloved worldwide for his commitment to people and his singular wit," he said.

"Our Ringo superhero character will combine these qualities, along with Ringo's secret powers which people didn't know about."

Its all in good fun. I think we tend to take Ringo more seriously than he does. I'll watch it.

I think it'll be cool.

By the way, Wayne, I read about this comic-book superhero who is like in his eighties. I forget what he's called, though.

I have never heard of any comic book superhero in his 80's which is why this cartoon series with Ringo is about him now or 40 years ago.

I wonder how they came up with the concept?
Stan lee and his team sitting around a table.
Stan "we need a new superhero, someone for the 21st century"
College Grad "I know-Ringo Starr!"
Uncomfortable silence....
