'Well don't you know I can't take.
I don't know who can,
I'm not going make it
I'm not that kind of man'
I Call Your Name.
Lennon's deliverance is spot on.
-
'Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.

-
'Please don't wake me, no
don't shake me
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping'
If only I could wake up and speak so eloquently my grandmother might actually let me go back to bed.
-
"I feel good in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day"
Pure sunshine pop goodness! ;)
-
"Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles.
What makes you think you
-
"If the rain comes
they run and hide their heads
They might as well be dead
If the rain comes
If the rain comes
When the sun shines
they slip into the shade
and sip their lemonade
When the sun shines
When the sun shines"
It rained all day yesterday, and now today..it's all hot and sunny.
-
"At 12 o' clock a meeting round the table
for a s

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy
I don't mind, I think they're crazy
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find there's no need (there's no need)
My Favorite, People need to slow down and look inside themselfs for peace instead of looking for satisfaction outside themselves. thats how i translate the lyrics personally anyway.
-
On Everybodys Got Somthing To Hide Except For Me and My Monkey when they all start Ad-libbing "come on! come on! come on! come on!"
i tell that to myself when i need to get out of bed early.

On Everybodys Got Somthing To Hide Except For Me and My Monkey when they all start Ad-libbing "come on! come on! come on! come on!"
i tell that to myself when i need to get out of bed early.
;D
-
"Oh listen to that now... Oh LOOK OUT!" She came in through the bathroom window
-
Sometimes i wish i knew you well, then i could speak my mind and tell you. =(
-
I've always enjoyed "Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream" and "Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup."
-
not a beatles song but one of my fave lines in any song
"Youve been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation
Of the sequel to your life"
pavement - shady lane
-
Well you should see Polythene Pam
She's so good-looking but she looks like a man
Get a dose of her in jackboots and kilt
She's killer-diller...
killer-diller...enough said. ;D ;D :P
-
And if I seem a bit unkind
It's not me
It's just my mind
That is confusing things
-
'When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I'm still yawning.
When I'm in the middle of the dream
Stay in bed, float upstream.
Please don't wake me,
No, don't shake me,
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping'
it's about me! i hate to wake ur early in the morning!!!
'-Do you need anybody?
-I need somebody to love.
-Could it be anybody?
-I want somebody to love.
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends,
Mm, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends!'
it's also about me! i want somebody to love. And I need a help! ;D
-
One of mine would be
"Bright are the stars that shine,
Dark is the sky"
-And I Love Her
-
Great question; maybe "Julia:"
Half of what I say is meaningless
But I say it just to reach you,
Julia
Julia, Julia, ocean child, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Her hair of floating sky is shimmering, glimmering,
In the sun
Julia, Julia, morning moon, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
When I cannot sing my heart
I can only speak my mind, Julia
Julia, sleeping sand, silent cloud, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Hum hum hum...calls me
So I sing a song of love for Julia, Julia, Julia

"Something in the way she moves"
-
"Something in the way she moves"
The original James Taylor lyric ( Apple, Dec 68 ) or George's "borrowed" version?
-
Favourite lyric:
The Sweet: It's, Its, a ballroom blitz!
The greatest bit of trashy rhyming glam rock ever!
-
Kevin schooled me! Sorry for my ignorance, I wasn't aware that George borrowed it. I guess that answers the question: George's version.
Im very happy I found this site. I have read books and listened to the albums, but I don't really have anyone to discuss The Beatles with. I just started reading this site a few days ago and have already learned so much!

"living is easy with eyes closed
misunderstanding all you see
it's getting hard to be someone
but it all works out
it dosen't matter much to me
-Strawberry Fields Forever
-
"living is easy with eyes closed
misunderstanding all you see
it's getting hard to be someone
but it all works out
it dosen't matter much to me
-Strawberry Fields Forever
ah yes another one of my favorites!great choice!
-
Another of mine is
"The love you take is equal to the love you make"
and
"Sgt. Pepper's one and only lonely hearts club band"
-
And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right where I belong
I'm right where I belong.
-
Great Thread :) Here's a few I can think of at the moment!
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight - I'm Looking Through You
She's the kind of girl who puts you down
When friends are there, you feel a fool.
When you say she's looking good
She acts as if it's understood.
She's cool, ooh, ooh, ooh,
Girl! Ffff...Girl!
- Girl
I was alone, I took a ride,
I didn't know what I would find there
Another road where maybe I could see another kind of mind there
- Got To get You Into My Life
She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't
feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you - For No One
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime - Happiness is a Warm Gun
-
You never give me your money
You only give me your funny paper
and in the middle of negotiations
you break down
I never give you my number
I only give you my situation
and in the middle of investigation
I break down
Out of college, money spent
See no future, pay no rent
All the money's gone, nowhere to go
Any jobber got the sack
Monday morning, turning back
Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go
But oh, that magic feeling, nowhere to go
Oh, that magic feeling
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to go
One sweet dream
Pick up the bags and get in the limousine
Soon we'll be away from here
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away
One sweet dream came true today
Came true today
Came true today
Came true today (yes it did)
One two three four five six seven,
All good children go to Heaven

Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime - Happiness is a Warm Gun
One of my favourites too. Welcome back Indy, where you been?
-
Another of mine is
"The love you take is equal to the love you make"
very true! ;)
-
Yes and we still have the love!
It's all you need :)
-
Although I laugh and I act like a clown
Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for her or myself that I cry
I'm A Loser
-
"Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the milky way
And tell me, did venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know youre wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone
Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me"
-drops of jupiter by Train
"And anytime you feel the pain,
Hey, Jude, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder"
- hey jude by the Beatles
-
Someday when we're dreaming, deep in love,
Not a lot to say,
Then we will remember things we said today
Only because those words seem to fit into my life at the moment. I have heard the song many times before, but when I played it today and I heard it, it really jumped out at me.
-
oh gosh so many to choose!!
I pick these:
Take a good look around you
Take a good look you're bound to see
That you and me were meant to be for each other
Silly girl.
But I do love all the others, I have a favorite lyric in all the songs
-
Had this on my brain all evening for some reason:
She's not a girl who misses much
do do do do do do, oh yeah
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand like a lizard on a window pane.
The man in the crowd with the multi-colored mirrors on his hobnail boots.
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy working overtime.
A soap impression of his wife which he ate and donated to the National Trust.

Sitting on a cornflake
Waiting for the van to come
Corporation t-shirts
Stupid bloody Tuesday
Man you've been a naughty boy
You let your face grow long.
-
"I'm a loser."
I'm A Loser.
-
Right now:
Nothing's gonna change my world, nothing's gonna change my world.
-
You were in a car Crash and you lost your hair - this always gives me a laugh
I want to tell you I feel hung up and I dont know why - I just love this song and this line is so cool.
Let it Be
LEt it Be
Let it Be
Speaking words of WISDOM
Let it Be - these are very good advice
The entire lyrics of yer blues is so dark, bbut still great imagery.
Most of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds again for the imagery
How can I even try, I can never win
Hearing them seeing them in the state I'm in
How could she say to me love will find a way
Gather round all you clowns, let me hear you say ay ay - so sad.
-
Let it Be
LEt it Be
Let it Be
Speaking words of WISDOM
Let it Be - these are very good advice
Personally I don't see how exhorting people (if as we're told this was a period of great social change) to leave well enough alone is particularly wise. "Way-up your options and reach a balanced conclusion" might be wise, but a b**** to find rhyms (sp) for.
Beatlesong #2 that could have the tag "this song has been sponsored by the Government Bureau of Public Safety."
-
"Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend"
from We Can Work It Out,
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
from While My Guitar Gently Weeps - great lines!
And I just love the whole lyrics of "In My Life" and "I'm Only Sleeping"!
-
The Beach Boys - Surf's Up
A diamond necklace played the pawn
Hand in hand some drummed along, oh
To a handsome mannered baton
A blind class aristocracy
Back through the op'ra glass you see
The pit and the pendulum drawn
Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop
Are you sleeping?
Hung velvet over taking me
Dim chandelier awaken me
To a song dissolved in the dawn
The music hall, a costly bow
The music all is lost for now
To a muted trumperter swan
Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop
Are you sleeping, Brother John?
Dove nested towers
The hour was strike
The street quicksilver moon
Carriage across the fog
Two-Step to lamplight cellar tune
The laughs come hard in Auld Lang Syne
The glass was raised, the fired-roast
The fullness of the wine, a dim last toasting
While at Port, adieu or die
A choke of grief heart-hardened eye
Beyond belief, a broken man too tough to cry
Surf's up aboard a tidal wave
Come about hard and join the young and often spring you gave
I heard the word, wonderful thing
A children's song
A children's song, have you listened as they play?
Their song is love and the children know the way
I don't have a clue what most of this means, but I get a beautiful surrealistic movie in my head every time I listen to these lyrics. Van Dyke Parks is such a genius.

This song, Piazza New York Catcher by Belle and Sebastion is just amazing <3
Elope with me Miss Private and we’ll sail around the world
I will be your Ferdinand and you my wayward girl
How many nights of talking in hotel rooms can you take?
How many nights of limping round on pagan holidays?
Oh elope with me in private and we’ll set something ablaze
A trail for the devil to erase
San Francisco’s calling us, the Giants and Mets will play
Piazza, New York catcher, are you straight or are you gay?
We hung about the stadium, we’ve got no place to stay
We hung about the tenderloin and tenderly you tell
About the saddest ending of a book you ever had to read
The statue’s crying too and well he may
I love you I’ve a drowning grip on your adoring face
I love you my responsibility has found a place
Beside you and strong warnings in the guise of gentle words
Come wave upon me from the wider family net absurd
“You’ll take care of her, I know it, you will do a better job”
Maybe, but not what she deserves
Elope with me Miss Private and we’ll drink ourselves awake
We’ll taste the coffee houses and award certificates
A privy seal to keep the feel of 1960 style
We’ll comment on the decor and we’ll help the passer by
And at dusk when work is over we’ll continue the debate
In a borrowed bedroom virginal and spare
The catcher hits for .318 and catches every day
The pitcher puts religion first and rests on holidays
He goes into cathedrals and lies prostrate on the floor
He knows the drink affects his speed he’s praying for
a doorway
Back into the life he wants and the confession of the bench
Life outside the diamond is a wrench
I wish that you were here with me to pass the dull weekend
I know it wouldn’t come to love, my heroine pretend
A lady stepping from the songs we love until this day
You’d settle for an epitaph like “Walk Away, Renee”
The sun upon the roof in winter will draw you out like
a flower
Meet you at the statue in an hour
Meet you at the statue in an hour

I think that misses the point of lyric. He's talking more about personal things, relationships, I think - "Let it Be" basically means "Let it go". You know the whole "If you love something set it free", it's all the same idea. Don't hold on too tight. Sometimes when you stop trying so hard, you are able to overcome the problem that seemed impossible, in some ways you were getting in your own way. Or you realize that it's time to move on, you're holding onto the past.
In fact in a time of great change that is something that could be said to the people who are fighting so hard to stop any changes.
-
"Thought I'd been in love before, but in my heart, I wanted more."
I love "Real Love" right now, it's my favorite song at the moment. ;)
-
Your day breaks, your mind aches
There will be times when all the things she said will fill your head
You won't forget her
--
Just love that song in general lately.

what are your fav beatle lyrics of the moment? mine are from 'i am the walrus':

one and one and one is three- Come together.

...Although I laugh and I act like a clown, beneath this mask I am wearing a frown...
I thought John wasn't too keen on this line himself, but because Bob Dylan had used the word 'clown', he thought it would be alright.
-
i've just seen a face i can't forget the time or place
where we just met she's just the girl for me
and i want all the world to see we've met
mmm mmm mmm mm mm mmm

Some of my favorite lyrics right now are from "You Never Give Me Your Money".
One sweet dream
Pick up the bags and get in the limousine
Soon we'll be away from here
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away
One sweet dream came true today
Came true today
Came true today,yes it did.
I like these lyrics because they make me think about leaving the bad things in my life and moving on to better things.
-
'Please don't wake me, no
don't shake me
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping'
If only I could wake up and speak so eloquently my grandmother might actually let me go back to bed.
Always thought that Oasis The importance of being idle is a rip off of this song

Boy you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight along time
