I hadn't heard this in a long time. Very spiritual. I also think this inspired McCartney to write Let It Be.

In fact John said that "Let It Be" was Paul trying to do his "Bridge Over Troubled Water". But that was not chronologically possible, because the Beatles recorded "Let It Be" in January 1969 and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was released a full year later.

It's an incredible composition. Maybe in my top 10 all-time.

Probably in my top 10, too, and I agree, Dcazz, it's very spiritual (at least, it seems so to me). And the vocals are just staggering. Oh, to be gifted like that!

I was very touched last night to see that my teenage daughter, who along with my other two children has been struggling since her father walked out last year, posted a few lines from this on Facebook. I play it in the car, and she's never commented on it. Yesterday in the car when I was playing it I mentioned to all 3 kids how the song, to me, reminds me of that "Footprints in the Sand" quote. It encouraged me that she has been turning to her faith to get her through this.

It's what will get her through. Worked for me!

Kathy, have you ever read any of Elin Hilderbrand's books? This song is central to the theme in her book "Silver Girl" which is why I liked it so well. It gets her through a situation that is somewhat similar to what you're going through.

Thanks for mentioning that, Kelley; I looked up Silver Girl on Amazon, and it looks really interesting. I'm going to see if our local library has it.

I'm sure they will.  She's a popular author. If not they can probably get it in from another library. After you read it we can meet over in the book thread and discuss it. :)

Oh, that is one of my favorites from The Who. They have so many fantastic songs that remain relatively little known.

Ironically, I was just listening to them myself:

It may be a bit early for Christmas (well not according to a lot of stores), but not for this great record.
