Opinions on The Beatles Songbooks
« on: November 23, 2005, 05:03:46 AM »

I'm looking to purchase a Beatles songbook but I want some opinions on these two selections:

The Beatles Fake Book (Fake Books)
- Apparently includes the cover songs as well which is a plus.
- What does Fake Book mean?
- How accurate is it?

The Beatles Complete Chord Songbook (Paperback)
- Doesn't contain cover songs and has many inaccuracies judging by some of the reviews.

So what would you recommend?

Depends what instrument you play. I have both  The Beatles Complete guitar/vocal edition and I also have another Beatles complete which is not quite as good....I will have to dig it up.

There are many 'Beatles complete' out there.

I think this is the best one I have come across so far.

I use it the most when my ears fail me.

Yes it does. very accurate. ;) Inevitably there are always the odd mistakes...This book has the fewest that I have come across so far.

I'm not sure about that book. The Beatles Complete has EVERY song recorded and composed by Lennon/McCartney.

The other book I have is The Concise Beatles Complete which I do not rate as highly. Still good but no chord diagrams though.
