'On The Beach' (1959)

A deeply sad story - perhaps the saddest of all, considering the subject matter - but a brilliantly made film.

Our friends in Oz are likely familiar with it, since the much of the story and its filming took place there.

Not much more to say other than catch it if you can. Just be prepared for the gravitas of it.

Four Junior Mints.

Powerful movie.

That movie is a riot!  I love it too.

And you got Gene Krupa in that flick too...

Barbara Stanwyck was counting bars just like Mal Evans did 26 years later in A Day In The Life.    ;)

I'd heard Gene Krupa was a big influence on Keith Moon; now I see why!  ;)

It's OK to think it, just don't say it out loud...

How was it, Dave? I loved that book and gave many copies to friends and families. Will have to watch the movie myself, although I'm a tad reluctant because "the movie is never as good as the book," IMO. I'm curious to hear what you thought.

I can totally see myself bawling through most of it, too. Heck, I cried just reading the book.
