The Cowsills started singing a lot of Beatles songs in the mid-60s.  With a bit of vintaging, they sounded like this in 1969...

The Partridge Family was based on The Cowsills.  The Cowsills were approached for the show, but the producers wanted Shirley Jones to play their mother.  The Cowsills collectively turned down the offer...

This was an unexpected place to find The Cowsills…with Hugh Hefner!

Bob Cowsill married Playmate Nanci Roberts on June 6, 1970. They were divorced in 1976.

My wife took my daughter and half of her 8th grade basketball team to the movies the other day and they sang 'Hair' together as its one of their favorites. The other girls looked at each other in amazement (not due to the great singing, but they thought the song was so silly). One of them asked my daughter how she knew her mothers hippy music so well.  ha2ha

I remember taking my sister to a local department store where The Cowsills were doing a record-signing.  My sister struck up a conversation with Susan that went on for over twenty minutes.  They were good friends by the time I had to take my sister home.  They were all genuinely friendly to all their fans that day.

That was John singing lead.  He was 12 at the time.  You have to hear the whole song on their live In Concert album.  Their hit single Hair came from this album.

It was cute. There's some good stuff on that album.

There's some very good stuff on this album.  There are no original songs and all are covers.  Each Cowsill chose a popular song of the time and was spotlighted in this live concert.

I bought this CD several years ago.  The link I posted allows you to hear 30 second samples of all the songs on the album.

It was the Summer of Love 1967 and The Cowsills had a hit with...

The Rain, The Park, And Other Things

The Cowsils_ The Rain, The Park, & Other Things (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi0CqIeLjkQ#)
This was a huge hit for them way back! it reminds me of any of the best songs The Mamas and the Papas did. Good song!

I was very surprised when my daughter said that she'd like to see The Happy Together Tour at the fair near Buffalo in August. So we are. I'll be glad to see Flo and Eddie and all the acts but I'm most excited about the Cowsills. Now I'll have to start worrying about rain again. LOL

Yeah, and hopefully we'll be able to see the stage! Tickets have been on sale since April but they just started advertising it on TV. I got reserved seating and it looks like we are just before the edge of the stage. I may have to do some leaning like I did at the Fab Four concert. LOL

We've talked about the Grip Weeds in the Contemporary Band thread and they just recently toured as the backup band for Mark Lindsay and Susan Cowsill.  Thought that was pretty cool.

Here they are doing Baby Don't Go

That would be just fine! I hope they don't forget the puka shells. I'm not sure if they'll do it without those. Boy, nothing says Friday night like The Partridge Family and Love, American Style. I can't believe my parents let me watch that second one. They probably figured it went right over my head. LOL

They had the theme right for Season 1 when The Cowsills sang it in 1969.
