Baz mate, these videos are awful, I really cant stand C & W   ;sorry

I used to feel that way too Kev but one day I decided that I really liked Patsy Cline. Then it was Johnny Cash and then I guess I just became more open to a lot of the older stuff. The new stuff kinda sets my teeth on edge though. I had outpatient surgery last year, performed by a doctor who apparently digs the stuff. I only had to have a local anesthetic but by about the third song I was ready to beg him to put me under. LOL

I'll try to re-rail the thread then.

After due consideration I nominate as my worst of.....

The Beatles - Blue Jay Way (Best Quality)
The Beatles - Blue Jay Way (Best Quality)

But it says its the best right under the video...twice! I never really knew this song until I watched the movie. Since I really like the movie I like the song too..by association, I guess!

I bought The Rutles - All You Need Is Cash DVD and CD about ten years ago, Kelley.  The review of Anthology mentioned that the video was cropped for widescreen presentation.  The Eric Idle "narration" was nothing more than an interview which was not synchronized with the video so I passed on it.

That's too bad but at least you found out the easy way.

It's a waltz!  Maybe that's why you like it, Kev.  It's a start, anyway.

Maybe you'll like this waltz too...

Of course that was originally an Aussie song written by Geoff Mack...

I like Run For Your Life.  Sure, it gets bad press because of the line "Well, I'd rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man."  But John copped that from Let's Play House...

I like George's guitar solo in Run For Your life...

I can certainly understand how associating banjos with Deliverence could be traumatic! Fortunately, my love of banjo music was firmly in place before I ever saw that movie. Maybe what did it for me will help you. You just have to reframe your thinking by associating the banjo with something funny, not creepy. If you have time watch all of this. If not, the first 5 minutes might be enough. ;)

Mighty impressive, huh? So's that Geoff Mack feller. And so's your ability to come up with this neat stuff. It's always fun to see what you've found.  ;)

I like banjos a lot. Had one once, but never got fancy at it. I intend to get another as soon as the budget allows.

As you were.

And...

...it's not just hillbilly any more. One must check out Bela Fleck and the Flecktones...

I have a banjo. They can add quite nice resonating sounds to tracks without turning them into bluegrass. Definitely stay away from the hillbilly sound though. And squealing like a piggie.

Q: Why is the banjo player a fiddle player's best friend?
A: Without him, the fiddle would be the most hated instrument on earth.

I'm fortunate I gave up violin when I was 14 then.  ;)
