Thanks for the great list, HG. The wireless earpiece, computer disks, flat screen panels, etc....those had slipped my mind.

Oh yeah, and you can see a flat screen in Requiem for Methuselah too.

The PenJet link wouldn't work on my browser, but it sounds amazing. So why isn't it used more often? It is too costly to manufacture?

Here's the PenJet website:  http://www.penjet.com/

You need Quick Time to watch the video.  Two or three other companies maufacture a similar needle-less injector.  They are a little pricey but for those afraid of needles, they're heaven-sent.

Thanks, HG. I'll watch the vid when I get on my Mac.

I keep forgetting to ask... Have you collected any ST stuff yourself?

BTW, I just bought tickets last night for the Vegas convention this year, should be fun!

I have the two TOS DVD sets, the original and remastered versions.

Oh, and of course I have to have one of these...a velour science officer's tunic like this one but with Lt. Commander rank.  I wore it to a Halloween party a couple of years ago.

I know you'll both have a great time at the Star Trek convention!

^ HG, honestly, that tunic is so awesome!! ;D Did you get it custom-made? (May I ask how much it cost?)

And science blue with a lt. commander rank...is it safe to assume your favorite character is McCoy? (I can't remember if I've asked you this before, sorry!)

I'd love to get an officer's uniform too, especially for the con, but I'd probably have to settle for a cheap(er) off-the-rack costume.

I love Star Trek! TOS and TNG! Sort of a fan of DS9. Mostly, TNG. Data for the win!

Of course it's blue.  I'm a doctor, not an engineer!

 ;)

Penny Lane, yes it's custom-made.  Here's the link to the eBay seller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Trek-TOS-Science-SPOCK-Uniform-Costume-Prop-Shirt-/200470657098?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eacfb784a

She's a great seamstress and a true Star Trek fan too.  She's a perfectionist as well and recreates the uniforms faithfully.  So my tunic has the hidden zipper as was used originally.  The velour fabric was used in the first season.  They switched to double-knit for the second and third seasons.

Currently, she's not listing the female uniform, but will make them on request.  Her prices, I think, are reasonable and her intent is to see that you're pleased with her recreation.

And yes, Penny Lane, the blunt, wise, and sometimes abrasive but always lovable Dr. Leonard McCoy is my favorite Star Trek character.

I think the only piece of memorabilia (if you can even call it that) is the pin my friend made for me.

None the less, I am still very proud of it.

Wow...I can't tell you how tempted I am at this point... I'm assuming her female uniforms would go for more than $100, however, because I'm sure they take up more fabric and work. But still, she sounds amazing. If I make enough money this summer, I might take the plunge.

I'm always glad to meet someone who can appreciate Dr. McCoy. Perhaps he's a bit of an acquired taste for some--one of my friends doesn't like him very much. But McCoy and Kirk are my favorite characters, and really, I just love McCoy to death.  :-*

That's one of my all-time favorite pics of DeForest Kelley.

Scotty, do we have warp power yet?

I guess Scotty is down in Engineering, Penny Lane.  Nice Star Trek stuff!  Where's the scanner?

I'd love to know what DeForest Kelley meant in that autograph.

You can write her a question and she'll tell you how much it would be.  I'm sure she would make a perfect woman's uniform as she asks for measurements to be included with the order.  There are some women's service uniforms out there for a lot less...

The rank braid is a bit simplified though.

Nice Kirk pic, HG. ;)

The scanner was hidden inside the tricorder when I took my pic. Here's a helpful review of the medical tricorder and scanner that has clickable pics and a video: http://trekmovie.com/2009/06/12/the-collective-review-dst-star-trek-tos-medical-tricorder/

(Do note that other TOS tricorders/scanners are still being manufactured by this company, but the medical tricorder has since gone out of production. Sometimes you can find them at somewhat reasonable prices on eBay.)

As for De's autograph in that photo... If I remember correctly from his biography (the one by Terry Lee Rioux), when De and his friend Tom were youngsters, they'd take girls into the school cloakroom and steal kisses. I must I admit I'm terribly envious of those girls. :-[ ha2ha If I weren't already married, I'd marry Dr. McCoy in a heartbeat, no questions asked!

That's a good idea, HG... I would definitely write to her first with questions if I were to go this route. I have no doubt she'll do a first-rate job, considering how strong her feedback is. :)

I will keep the cheaper costumes in mind as well, just in case, although they're not as accurate.

Thanks for being thoughtful and considerate enough to provide me with advice, HG! ;D

...to match your action figure, Penny Lane.

Thank you for your explanation of the DeForest Kelley inscription!
