I still can't vote. IMPOSSIBLE! But it's either John or Paul. Or Paul or John.

This reminds me of the difference between Strikers & Forwards debate in Football (Soccer).....

Paul unquestionably has (had) the better singing voice over John.

But the better vocalist was (is) probably John.

Example:

Great Male Singers: Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Roy Orbison, George Michael, Elton John, Smokey Robinson, etc.

Great Male Vocalists: Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Thom Yorke, Kurt Cobain, Sly Stone, etc

hmmm im trying to get what you mean in the last post ? is it that the singers are great in a conventional kinda way, and that the vocalists are great in a way that isnt easily summed up or explainable they just have that something ?. If it is a totally agree i think the guys you put under singers are the guys that if you asked who has the best pitch, can hit the notes and always gives a great vocal peformance the guys you gave in great male singers would all come to mind with also i would put freddie mercury in the same line.
The guys you have put in best male vocalist havent got the best range or arent key perfect but have that tone to there voice that can make them more standout than the male singers?.

Who has the best singing voices?  I voted for the Man Of A Thousand Voices

I agree with Andy and KE that John has the best rock and roll voice and with hh's sentiments regarding Goeorge's voice, a profoundly sensitive and moving voice.

I give Ringo an A for effort while with the Beatles.  He has done somewhat better solo.

Yeah, no one could sing With A Little Help From My Friends better than Ringo!
never could get into Joe Cocker's version.
Speaking of which, who today let's their drummer have a chance to sing? :-/

I always enjoy watching and hearing Ringo doing live performances of Boys, I Wanna Be Your Man and Honey Don't.  He rocked!

Yes, With A Little Help From My Friends became his signature song while with the Beatles.....quite rightly!

and his performance of Act Naturally on the Blackpool Night Out Live
in 1965 was very good. I don't think he would have got away with singing a
real serious song in the Beatles.

But Paul looks terrible in this picture. lol

For love songs and melodies: Paul
For edgy rock songs : John

George also had a wonderful voice for softer songs.

And Ringo, he really does have a special quality to his voice.  I love him on Boys, Act Naturally, With a Little Help.

But if I had to pick just one Beatle as best singer, ummmm,,,,errrrrr...uhhhhhh im torn between Paul and John, just because I like their voices equally but really for different types of songs.

i could never decide on georges voice becausde ialways felt he lackedconfidence in his voice and could have produced more than we heard, like macca knew he was good and was always up for pushing his voice to the limit due to  his confidence were as i always felt george held back and played it safe in front of the guys.

Paul is obviously the best technical singer, but it all depends on what you prefer.
