Bad Penny Plues & Lady Madonna
« on: July 04, 2005, 04:27:59 AM »

In June 1956, Parlophone Records released a 78 rpm disc by Humphrey Lyttleton & His Band entitled Bad Penny Blues/Close Your Eyes.

Beatle folklore has it that the intro to Bad Penny Blues sounds awfully like ... well, listen for yourself. Download Bad Penny Blues from where the file will be available for seven days. Does sound like it, doesn't it?

Bad Penny Blues was recorded on 20 April, 1956. The producer? George Martin!

I didn't know until recently that George Martin discovered Matt Monro.

Matt Monro, Temperance Seven, Goons, Beyond the Fringe, etc etc - George Martin's credentials are enormous: then he added the Beatles.

O Lucky Man!
