I've seen it before...

You know, Alice in Wonderland has always been, and remains, one of my very favorite books, but I've never read the Through the Looking Glass part. I should probably rectify that.

This song was, obviously and as you know, based on Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass  And What Alice Found There...

Jefferson Airplane -White Rabbit-

This first part of this song, Your Move, with its various allusions to a chess game is too...

I've always liked this 1972 motion picture...

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1972)

The cast included Peter Sellers, Dudley Moore, Ralph Richardson, Flora Robson, Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan, and Fiona Fullerton as Alice.

Surely this 1985 version was better...

Ringo Starr as The Mock Turtle - Nonsense (Alice in Wonderland - 1985)

I know I'll get SLAUGHTERED by Mr. Mustard for this but, once again, the answer is the 60s.

Once you've seen Jonathan Miller's 1966 BBC production of 'Alice In Wonderland' (with a Ravi Shankar soundtrack, Peter Cook as the Mad Hatter and, at one point, uniforms that look remarkably like the Sgt. Pepper's ones from the following year) you'll see that ALL bets are off when it comes to resurrecting the Alice story.

Really, someone should have told Tim Burton, Helena Bonham-Carter, Johnny Depp etc.....seriously don't bother, your version won't come near!

I didn't realize how many versions were out there; all I've seen is the Disney animated Alice in Wonderland. (I didn't bother watching the Tim Burton film; it looked too bizarre for my taste.)

The voice of The Caterpillar in the Disney animated movie was done by the actor who played the lead in Twilight Zone's "A Thing About Machines," which is one of my favorites, because I'm a bit of a technophobe.  ;D  His name is escaping me right now.

No argument from me OBS....just to set the record straight I like your posting style and often agree with a great deal of what you say, and, for what it's worth, I love the 60s (especially '63 onwards  ;)).  I know we've disagreed on other threads, but always in a civil manner - it's just different opinions which any good forum should welcome...  I respect your 60s preferences (but must admit I'm intrigued that you seem to suddenly pull up the drawbridge on most things with the start of 1970 - this fascinates me!!)

And on the subject of 1970, the last movie I saw came from that year and I watched it today: "Two Mules For Sister Sara" starring Clint Eastwood and Shirley MacLaine. Enjoyed it too!!

I feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone every time I try to watch TV. I remember when all I had to do was aim the remote, hit the button and I could start channel surfing. Not any more. It takes forever for these new TVs to come on and when they finally do there's such a delay when changing the channel that surfing is just too much of a drag. Plus, I can't remember all these new HD channel numbers now. It's all too much!

'Two Mules For Sister Sara' is an awesome movie.

I watched 'Amazon Women On The Moon' yesterday.  Its a stupid movie that has a bunch of short skits in it from the 80's.  My cousin and I used to laugh at it 20 years ago so I watched it again.

I watched Noah on a long haul flight. A truly strange movie. Noah as part action hero/part depressed conscience of mankind. They tried to make it as un-bible-y as possible. More like a deep green eco parable. Can't say I liked it that much. But Russel Crowe has a way of making resigned grumpiness compelling.

I quite liked this one. I preferred it over White House Down. I wonder how the studios reacted when they found they were making such similar films for release around the same time.

'On The Beach' (1959)

A deeply sad story - perhaps the saddest of all, considering the subject matter - but a brilliantly made film.

Our friends in Oz are likely familiar with it, since much of the story and its filming took place there.

Not much more to say other than catch it if you can. Just be prepared for the gravitas of it.

Four Junior Mints.
